Re: Embarrassed and alone
Hi @Former-Member, That super sucks that you are feeling so embarressed and alone. I know you are not the person in the notes, and any decent psychologist will know it too. I have never experienced psychosis, but I have certainly done some things while extremely emotionally dysregulated, that I would prefer not to have done. I think for me, there are so many of those situations in my history now that I have learnt to kind-of go "well that sucked" and then get up, dust myself down, and keep on keeping on. It is what it is.
I super like the phrase "those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter." Although I don't have anyone in my real world who "doesn't mind," I know that there are plenty of people here in Forum Land who accept me just as I am. I super hope you can feel equally accepted. ![]()

Re: Embarrassed and alone
Hi @Former-Member,
I feel embarassed about things I did while I was emotionally distressed, too. I'm not sure if I've had psychosis- I think perhaps that I did have some mild depressive psychosis at one point, which has thankfully resolved.
But I have treated people badly when I've been emotioanlly distressed. I don't even remember half of what I said. I don't really want to remember.
Strangely, I'm always composed when I'm with the professionals... to the point where some of them have questioned why I'm having treatment at all!
It's behind closed doors- almost exclusively with romantic partners that I was bonkers. No professional has ever seen this behavior and I haven't talked about it a lot.
Don't worry to much about what is written in your referral. They have to write something. Health professionals have a very dry and brief way of describing things. I don't think any of us can ever relate to what is written is those type of letters.
I have a bit of background in health-care and so I'm not really interested in doctors' letters because I understand they are not very informative. They just write the bare minimum.
