365 Project

365 Project

I recently read about the 365 Project that was started by someone who was having difficulty with depression I think.. she took a photo everyday for a year of something that she was grateful for/enjoyed etc

I was wondering if we could do something like that on here, share a picture/ describe something... about something that we are grateful for each day with a little comment.. for instance

We had a great pre breakfast time building a tree house for the elephant complete with a water hole and pool! So grateful for fun times!

Mods... would this be ok?!?

That is OK @Ace85, I felt so bad about upsetting you, I have asked the moderators to remove the post, I hope we can still be friends and speak to each other. I really enjoy reading your posts.

I never ment any harm.

Take care

Jacques

Re: 365 Project

Today I am grateful for a conversation I had last week about "gratuitous concurrence" with someone at choir. It is used in a legal sense for some of the cultural difficulties indigenous people have in the legal system. It about saying yes, due to fear of authority rejection etc.

It is something I have done a lot in the past .. be too agreeable and seeking of approval. People have said I was "too nice". I have just been thinking about it and noting that I have come a long way .. I still struggle with a direct "no", but am trying to wrap up my statements with a dash of respect and a dash of humour. I am sick of being treated as a pushover and commit to more and more standing my ground, I have had to roll with a great many punches to even still be here ..

I am going to internalise more the importance and naturalness of some conflict in human discourse, not compromise myself in striving for harmony, as that will always be part of me.

Re: 365 Project

@Appleblossom you make an interesting point about "the naturalness of some conflict in human discourse" - and as @CherryBomb and @Mazarita mentioned earlier, politics is often an emotionally-charged topic!

I'm really impressed by how @Ace85 and @Jacques were able to get back on the same page via open and honest communication. As @Appleblossom mentioned, it was very sensitive of you both to notice that the other may have inadvertently become upset by certain comments while they were feeling down, and to thoughtfully make sure they were okay. What a great model of communication for all of us!

What strikes me about this discussion @Ace85 and @Jacques is that you were both passionately defending others - @Ace85, any individual who is left feeling humiliated, and @Jacques, those in society who are often marginalised. What a wonderful thing for two people to be passionate about.

As @Former-Member pointed out, hearing others' takes on things is a great opportunity for all of us to see things from many new perspectives... I feel that this has been a very enlightening discussion in many ways, thank you all for being courageous enough to share your views!

Re: 365 Project

Last night I had a lovely recorder lesson.

As we had a night off choir I went to a "Melb free university" lecture at a pub about... Luce Irigaray ... an ex student of Jacques Lacan. it was good hearing all those old concepts from 30 years ago and looking at all the new generation young students etc. I actually ran into someone I knew and we went out for coffee in a group... we could also laugh at the convolutedness of the theoreticians ... it was an experience I rarely had when I was actually at uni I was still too shy, broke or overwhelmed to socialise... but very lovely last night.

Re: 365 Project

hi @Appleblossom I'm teaching my lil girl to play recorder 😄 She's still a bit little for flute, so recorder is good to start on... but i cant stand the high pitched squeel lol! I'm going to order in an alto recorder and see if her fingers can reach the holes on that. I havent played alto for so long! and lost my range of recorders when i left my ex.

Something good for me .... state of mind is making it hard to notice the good stuff lately but its probably a good exercise to keep looking for the positive anyways. I am greatful for coffee today i think hehe! Its keeping me going and its my quiet time, kids know when im having a cuppa its 10 minutes of mummy time lol!
