Really wobbly

Really wobbly

Any advice and suggestions about how to stay grounded and do self care much appreciated. I have some big stressors in my life right now. That combined with Bipolar 1 and Anxiety is really knocking me around. Trying to sell home as result of marriage breakdown, pay debts, find new home. My daughter (who is my main support) is leaving home (can't blame her). I have a young son to look after and I'm trying to protect him from the strain of the situation. All this is coming off the back of a mixed episode, which has recently been replaced by plumetting mood and skyrocketing anxiety. I am teary and on the verge of panic and need to talk myself down - there's noone else to do it. The future is scaring me.

Wow @soul you've been through a lot. I will be staying in the same neighbourhood but the place I'm moving too is a truly tiny house. My daughter is moving into a share house and my son will live with me. I will be sleeping under the stairs... if it was good enough for Harry Potter... I am trying to declutter and downsize but I am so slow. I only have 3 weeks to get it sorted and I am trying to work. I say trying because even part time I struggle and have to take a lot of time off for appointments and the like. I think some people at work get sick of me 😞

We have a dog too @frog. It's actually my daughter's but I take most of the responsibility - vet bills, food, exercise, grooming etc. She has been my saving grace and my companion in this lonely existence I now have. I hardly see my daughter even though she lives with me. She doesn't take any interest in what I do and sometimes I wonder whether she blames me for the way some of the things turned out. She still has a very much teenage sort of brain even though she is in her early twenties. We see each other across from the dinner table maybe three times a week at most. Then she is holed up in her room, at work or hanging out with her boyfriend and other friends.

She probably sees my existence as pretty miserable. She has been through a lot. Now and then I try to find something that may interest the both of us and organise an outing whether it be a dinner or event.

I don't want to sound condescending by saying that at least you do have a roof over your head. I try to think of the positives in my life and know that many have it a lot worse.

I love the round ball game too. My son has been playing for 16 years now and I still go to watch his matches. I set the alarm to catch the EPL games. World Cup - love it. Maybe we can talk football.

I'll tag you to my thread. Hopefully it doesn't depress you.

@soul - feel for you, the relationship with my daughter is the same. In time with more maturity and life experience I believe this could change. Too many beautiful people like you are feeling alone. It makes no sense. You would be a treasure to have as a companion. Sending a warm hug 💜🌹🤗

Re: Really wobbly

@soul@Former-Member your daughters sound like mine, 21. She is moving out in the next few weeks, but I feel like she's already gone. Her life seems so much more together than mine, and I feel guilty for what I can't give her in support - material mainly, but also sometimes when i'm struggling I worry that I haven't given enough emotionally either, even though I do my best. My son is younger and much more present, but I already think about being completely on my own. I am lonely.

A fellow football fan @soul! I support Canberra United in W-league, Brisbane Roar in A-league and Spurs in EPL. It's a happy distraction for me. Neither of my kids play, but my daughter has become a fan too.

Re: Really wobbly

I'm a big Brissie Roar fan too @frogI used to go to all the home games. Caught a couple last season. I was devastated when they didn't re-sign Broich. Went to one at CCM once dressed in my Roar jersey - that was interesting. Unfortunately we lost.

I barrack for Manchester United in the Premier League. Sitting at the top of the ladder, hopefully for the whole season. Harry Kane had plenty of shots on target this morning but just the one successful goal by Alli to get them a draw.

Re: Really wobbly

If you're giving the best you can @frog - that's enough. I get the loneliness thing. I'm trying to be comfortable in myself so that I can be comfortable in the company of others.
