Any advice and suggestions about how to stay grounded and do self care much appreciated. I have some big stressors in my life right now. That combined with Bipolar 1 and Anxiety is really knocking me around. Trying to sell home as result of marriage breakdown, pay debts, find new home. My daughter (who is my main support) is leaving home (can't blame her). I have a young son to look after and I'm trying to protect him from the strain of the situation. All this is coming off the back of a mixed episode, which has recently been replaced by plumetting mood and skyrocketing anxiety. I am teary and on the verge of panic and need to talk myself down - there's noone else to do it. The future is scaring me.
Thanks for all those @outlander The grounding exercises help me to stay present.

@frog@outlander. Yes I often do 3 or 5 long deep breaths. After that I find it easier to find a natural breathing rythem

Re: Really wobbly
I'm having a bad run. Monday my psychiatrist was sick and cancelled my appointment. Yesterday my home of 19 years was sold. I'm down and the anxiety is overwhelming because I have to move and find a place to live and increase my work hours to cover rent. Rents are crazy in Canberra. Probably same everywhere. It seems insurmountable. Like things are falling in on me. Trying to look for positives. Have managed to turn up to work. No signs of mania/mixed episode even with enormous stress.

Re: Really wobbly
Good to hear from you @outlander. Have had a hellish 3 days on the housing front. Really struggling to keep my head above water. I feel like my anxiety is paralysing just when I need to be energetic and get things done. I did get to see my psychiatrist in the end and he's adjusting my medication to 'put a floor under you' in terms of mood. I said I thought that it was working, but that I am flat on the floor and having trouble moving. Trying to put one foot in front of the other and just keep going. How are things for you? Do you want to tell me about you? I would like to get to know some people better in forum land.

Oh yes anxiety can be delibitating @frog im glad you got to see your psychiatrist and they are doing something for you. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, lots of self care and also rewards as well.

Hi @frog - i also missed your posts earllier in the week 🙂 if you add an @ to the front of someones name it will usually 'tag' them and let them know that you've mentioned them. I'm happy for you to tag me. I've turned off most of my subscriptions these days because it gets so overwhelming with emails otherwise. I work full time as well so only usually get to things in the evening/weekends and have been a bit awol until recently just struggling a bit! I have ptsd/depression and other dx...
Wow - selling your house that is huge! Have you bought somewhere new? or moving very far? It is terrifying doing such big things like that, especially after having lived there for so long! I can't imagine that, have lived in the house we are in now for over 18 months but i think that might be the longest we've lived in one house for.. well ever! only renting now 😞 my ex lives in our house. Glad to hear that you saw your psychiatrist and seems as though they're understanding and helpful! Glad that meds are helping too, though the situation doesnt change.
As outlander said, please feel free to jump into any of the social threads - people are welcoming and you won't be interrupting anything. people come and go out of those threads lots. Its a good way to get to know people too! And please keep posting here too! I'm sorry i missed this the other day! So glad i saw it pop up again because of outlnder today! take care
