Suggestions for making sure new posts and members are not lost.

Suggestions for making sure new posts and members are not lost.

Hi Fourmites!

Following on from a previous thread, does anyone have any suggestions for how we can prevent an individual post from going unanswered and new members not feeling welcomed?

My suggestion was that the 'Latest Comments' sidebar to have twice as many posts, so that during busy times, new discussions are not lost to the flow.

My other suggestion is that new threads are either highlighted or moved to the top of each discussion topic so that they don't get lost.

I'm not sure if these are possible, or even a good idea. But I thought I would put it out there.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

hello @NikNik @Former-Member and others

I haven't got the energy to tag everyone so apologies there...

I think that the majority here are on the same path....we are just expressing our ideas in our own ways...exactly what the forums are about

I appreciate very much that you have explained to us the practicalities of the website putting everything into perspective from a realistic and cost point of view for sane

I would like to thank again 5HT for stepping up and creating this much needed thread

Not only are we hearing about behind the scenes, we are being included.....valued and this is something that many of us on here do not experience or feel that we do not receive due to us having a mental illness. On the far side of the fence ....both lived and caring take it in turns depending on which side of the fence you are sitting on...so no favourites....this is also the case for carers, not being heard, feeling undervalued, not important, even not relevant in some cases which is alarming

There are some on both sides who struggle expressing themselves or who are just too tired, or unwell...for them to know that they are part of this is humungous....each and everyone of us on here equal...

apologies for this being lengthy...those who know me understand that this is just who I am

Finally a big thank you for listening, taking notice and all of your help....as someone else has already said...I dont want to take the credit here.....the moderators and yourself as manager @NikNik do a brilliant job otherwise we would not all bother being here.

I look forward to hearing more

So when are the changes happening laugh?????

@NikNik This really is a dilemma. I'm thinking the bank-robbing plan is the best option. I'm really noticing how difficult it is to connect with new people. I'm working on my Forum Land addiction and thus aiming to spend less time in Forum Land. I've been on here for the past couple of hours and I know I need to jump off now...but I notice how many new people I haven't acknowledged, responded to. I super want to...but I know the more conversations I engage in, the more responses I'm going to get, which I will then want to respond to - resulting in Forum Land addiction.

What's the answer @NikNik (aside from bank robbing)?

@Phoenix_Rising
I don't have any answers at the moment - other than what I offered around integrating this idea into our future plans.
However, I'm checking out a few quick fixes to see if they are possible.
I won't have a response for a little while, but I will keep you posted!

@Former-Member

I have just come across a new thread written yesterday by a new member

sadly the person had not received a response

I responded as best I could

Could a moderator please respond

the thread is under the carer side...not feeling very positive

I would appreciate a quick note to let me know that this has happened as not being acknowledged resonates strongly with me

thank you

thank you so much @Former-Member

I hate to think that anyone on here would feel undervalued

I loved your response to her letting her know that you had actually read and taken in what she had written
