Re: Urgh Family
Thank you @Shaz51 had my final family diner tonight. I survived! I spent the day doing what I love and had a nap and that helped lol. Just wanting this anxiety to go though. I'm non stop freaking out and shallow breathing.

hello @Former-Member @KD2016 @Eden1919 @Shaz51 @Former-Member
I can sooooooooooo relate
I have tried so many different ways to like my additional family .....guess what...not happening
how can someone I love have such children who have such dreadful taste in partners?....
I get on best with his grandchildren and one of his son's inlaws
my husband refers to the extended family as in his children's partners as outlaws
I secretly refer to his whole family minus his grandchildren as nightmares
In my mind I now categorise them as my default family
any other suggestions re categories??
I think that you did a fabulous job meow meow if they didn't even try your dishes
hope that you get through the charade and make it safely home

Re: Urgh Family
And to be dragged into another family that so different to mine and loud and together all the time and in your face is painful.
I did though and I'm proud of myself I was trying to explain something and they just kept interrupting and going no no that's not how it goes or what about this and in my experience and just bugging me and I just got my firm voice on and looked them all in the eye and said excuse me can you be quiet for one minute so I can explain it quickly and easily with out a head ache. That shut them up lol!!!!
Another positive about the experience is that got to learn about how I show my feelings and they where shocked how I knew how each one of them recived love and I make sure I go out of my way for that and they where like man you really do know us. I think because I married the youngest in the family they see us as dumb kids.
I'm happy to be home now. I can't handle that family over every weekend lifestyle.

Re: Urgh Family
very brave @Former-Member
I have had to actually stand up at a table where I was being overtalked constantly
that worked wonders...in fact someone else stood up later to have her say...I thought that was brilliant
people who shout ...overtalk each other...are not only bad mannered also ignorant
it doesn't surprise me in the least that they were shocked when you spoke up....they dont listen so they would not have been prepared for your response
I have to spend time with the defaults this evening....will find someone interesting to t alk to
enjoy your default family free time
