@outlander

Definitely ! It is something to do - maybe I should get a laptop.. That might be useful.

I would have just sat on my butt doing nothing if you didn't even suggest it. How many more weeks is it until the 7th? Math...

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

I agree @NotLabelDefined (great name)

One thing I struggle with at irl uni is getting money back on subjects i've had to withdraw from. Recently did it and got 1.5k wiped off HECS which was good, but it took a long time. Something like this free course stuff is a good idea.

Also, @outlander and @Former-Member what are the psychology ones you have signed on for? Considering I will only be seeing my psych once a month it may be a good idea for me to get some understanding on the way my own brain works you feel?

This actually reminds me of a joke a comedian once said about how he signed up for all these free courses and he only watched one lecture then quit because he was too lazy haha 😛

Also you should consider uber you guys. That's what I'm trying to do lately, because it builds up confidence in dealing with people. I find this is something I struggle with at first, but then i settle in and it's okay. But the hurdle is rather large at first.

Also be cautious of feeling sorry for yourself when you take these things. Just a heads up. It's something I always struggle with - because i have very bad self-esteem and i put myself down. So even if i did sign up for something like this that was free - I would still be depressed about it. It's a learned response I have. Still working on it though.

@NotLabelDefined

I am always viewed as the really anxious girl or severely depressed girl - and when everyone else creates that label and image for you, it can be very hard to break away from.. Recognising it although is very important.

You have a lot of strength in being able to seperate them and realise that you are not your diagnosis. Then spending your time to help others.

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

@Former-Member@MDT this is for the pscyhology one

WHAT YOULL LEARN:

What psychology is essentially about
The basic philosophical and conceptual foundations of psychology, such as:
The mind-body issue
The biopsychosocial perspective
The structure and functions of neurones, the smallest functional element of the nervous system, and how they communicate with each other
The broad structural and functional organisation of the nervous system as a whole, and the important features which allow for complex behaviours to occur in humans
The general approach that psychologists take to understand abnormal behaviour, including:
How they classify mental disorders
The essential diagnostic approach
The basic processes involved in experiencing and then coping with stress, and what happens when our coping strategies fail
What anxiety and mood disorders are, including:
The various subtypes
Their general prevalence (epidemiology)
How they are diagnosed and treated

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

@MDT - well we both just signed up for one in Nursing, so not necessarily in psychology

Also... To be able to do Uber - I may need to aquire my Learners though ,, yeah I even have procrastinated years to do that.

Definitely. But I also feel depressed when I am doing absolutely nothing.

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

@outlander

That sounds really interesting and inriguing - my concern though is learning about the opposite side of the spectrum whilst I am currently already drowning in my brain. I already know quite a lot of psychology- so it might be easy though.

Also I dont even have a computer.. I only have a phone.. a crappy phone too. So yeah, might look into getting a laptop that functions but not too pricey.
