Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

hey everyone

@outlanderyou could potentially use those certificates of attainment as a means by which to apply for a nursing course you know! combined with school results and your general interest it would really help. Maybe that is something to consider down the track as you focus on getting better?

hope everyone is having a nice day

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

Sounds like a very rewarding career choice @outlander. I want to go into social work and work in mental health myself. The social worker at the hospital I go into said I had better not take her job lol! I've wanted to work in mental health ever since I first became unwell over a decade ago. I've already done diplomas in youth work and counselling and a certificate IV in mental health and a degree in nursing. Next semester I am doing a part-time diploma in community services and then it's off to University for social work degree.

I don't necessarily think I could cope with first line mental health nursing. I thought about becoming a case manager, but I think I am more suited to social work. Helping people with psychosocial disability to live independent and rewarding lives. I think that's more me.

I think you should reach for your dreams and aspirations @outlander. Go get 'em girl!

Hi @Former-Member.

@outlander - have read a bit about what's been happening. I like that you are thinking about your future. Possible career options and your plan about going away for a few days - sounds good.

@MDT - how's your Sunday been?

@Queenie - you offer up great advice.

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

thats what im thinking @MDT they will look good on resumes and give me some knowledge before taking on a bigger course. im not reading to take on a major course yet. i know theres no excuses but i feel if i take it on now and i crash i wont be at my full or even half potentional going throug the course

but it is certainly something to look into when im on my own feet

I am listening to some music through a sound dock; usually I use my headphones. Our budgie is competing and ruining my listening pleasure so I had to cover his cage. Wonder if here's such a thing as a chirping collar???

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

good grief @Queenie! youve done it all!

these are just thoughts, im not quite set into them yet but its something to look into. im wondering if theres some sort of job where i can work with both mental health and nursing but maybe not in a hospital setting. im not too sure yet. thats why the courses im doing are more taster courses, if i dont like them well theres no majoy loss to me but rather an experience that i can use to do something else or know thats not the righ path i want to take.

i like helping people. its kinda my thing i think. so im trying to use it to my advantage and find a path that im not going to regret or get bored of.

@soul yes im planning to get away for a few days after my mother is back from her holiday. i dont care i literally sit in a hotel for a few days, ill get out in nature its a guarentee it always happens. but i need to get out of this dan house and environment for a few days. time to start getting my life and more importantly 'me' back

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

@outlander with all your study you would get lots of credit off a nursing degree

Re: Anyone feel like chatting?

yeah @lovemyboys im not too sure if i could handle nursing though. im not great with needles and things like that. it freaks me out but i guess theres only one way to find out. but im just taking things slowly. and getting a feel for things. testing the waters at the moment
