**Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

**Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Apologies for this long, ranting post, but I have to get it out of my head. I don't care if you read it or not.

For weeks now, I felt so incredibly overwhelmed with sadness; on the edge of tears constantly that never get released. I'm back on medication for depression which doesn't seem to be working after 3 weeks.

Nothing brings much satisfaction anymore, not even my job, which was one thing I had to hold onto to keep me going. And after yet another impulsive attempt and a trip to hospital last weekend, where I also take shifts, my professional conduct & capacity is being questioned by other staff and departmental managers. I don't blame them; I would probably feel the same way.

My SI is actually an acceptable 'coping mechanism' for my BPD when life gets to much, and I need to shut down. But now it's become a burden and problematic because of how often I've presented to hospital in the last 6months. Often if I feel 'safe' enough, I stay home and sleep it off. So now, after feeling like I've burdened health services to the point of annoyance, I feel like I have go ahead and made a proper effort because I deserve to be punished for that. I can't 'urge surf' these SI/SA thoughts anymore. I feel compelled to put them into proper action. Now that I have made that decision, I am scared, that if I really intend to go through with it, there's no coming back, no tommorows.

Why do I now suddenly care so much about dying, when I never did before with any other major attempts? I don't really know, but it's got me really rattled how stuck my mind is on making it work. I guess maybe I want to stick around for a bit longer. But this feeling of hopelessness is all consuming and strong.

I don't know what to do. I don't know who to turn to anymore, as the support services have heard it all before, so nothing they suggest helps. Not even my loved DBT skills help. How do you keep going when nothing helps, loved ones can't reach you, and it's just takes so long to feel any bit of right?

THIS POST MIGHT BE TRIGGERING. HENCE NO TAGS

attachment seems to be the word of the day as it has come up in rl as well. My GP is the only professional person I have at the moment that I trust and that hasn't made me feel l am not a huge problem that can't be handled. She was saying to me today that she feels helpless that we are running out of options right now to give me the strength to keep going. I told her that there is only one other professional person I trusted who helped earlier this year would be the only person who I would trust to help me right now. I even checked before my drs appt today whether she was at the same place, and if I was able to be referred back to her (that was yes to both).

When my Dr asked me how I felt about going back to her, and what if she wasn't available. I told her due to my attachment issues both questions were problematic. In the last couple of years every clinician I've finished with has ended up with a stay in the hospital shortly after for SH/SA. But this particular person we were discussing was really good with setting structured boundaries about session times (ie. letting me know in advance that we had to finish in so many minutes & that our contracted time together was finishing in so many weeks). So if couldn't see her, then no, I won't consider anyone else. Because I can't handle any more rejection, attachment to someone new, etc.

My poor Dr is really worried about me right now, so much so that I had to make a promise just for today & tommorow not to SH/SA and to call on Thursday for a check in. That was a pretty huge ask but the lack of sleep is helping in one way that I'm exhausted & there are other 'protective' factors so I told her it was unlikely.

Just writing all that has had me in tears again, and made me even more tired. You are all hopefully asleep right now. These are the reasons though why being/posting in the forums is difficult right now. I have very little energy, and each day is a struggle to get through (just like everyone else here too), but it takes a massive amount of energy to stay alive each day when my mind is fighting not to.

@Sans911 So glad to see you back on here a bit. Have been worried about you. And yes it does super suck, I too came on here for an outlet and ended up meeting some kind, compassionate, caring people too that I have become quite attached too. Hopefully you don’t start to leak again but you are one of them. Sleep well hun 💗💗

@Faith-and-Hope are you on Chair Island? I logged of earlier, did the 'right' things to get ready for sleep, and as soon as lights out & my head was on the pillow, it was like the freaking light went on in my brain. So I turned the light back on. Wrote down some stuff in my head, turned the light off again, laid down. Nope, not happening. Trying not to stress about it, but I've never coped well with sleep deprivation, even with all my years of shift work. So, round 3 in a little while.

Re: **Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Attagirl @Sans911 ..... that’s how I deal with it .....

I think my brain is waiting sometimes until I am in the most vulnerable place in my day ..... trying to put my head down on the pillow and go to sleep ..... to start unpacking stuff.

I am having two nights at the moment ..... falling asleep for an hour or two on Chair Island ..... then waking up enough to drag myself off to Bed Island ..... or get waylaid for longer at Chair to Table Island ..... currently at the latter having just watched a Brene Brown TED talk.

If my brain is that active with concern of some sort, going to bed and agonising about not sleeping is not going to do it for me. I am better to spend three constructive hours awake in the middle of the night, with a solid two hour sleep on one side and a solid three to four hour sleep on the other side of it, than to spend the whole night stewed up and tossing around.

Sometimes I don’t even know what it is. I am sitting outside my husband’s story .... the e.d. is symptomatic of something that is crippling him on the inside that he won’t let me near, so all I can do is remain present, supportive of what I can that is workable, and wait this thing out.

So what to do in the meantime ? When we are dealing with mi as a carer, the first thing counsellors tell you is to learn as much as you can about the condition ..... learn how it works, how it thinks, what it demands ..... doing that. What feeds our particular condition ? Because it is ours ..... we are all living with it .....

Learning about vulnerability and shame. Learning about what feeds shame, and what it’s antidote is .... and that vulnerability is the true hallmark of courage ......

This forum exists on courage .....

We are all here in courage .....

Hope I am not derailing your Round 3 ..... hoping to help settle it for tonight.

♥️

Re: **Trigger warning** Stuck in world of sadness and Suicidal Ideation

Hi @Sans911,

I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I can super relate to what you are describing both with your GP running out of options and with your attachment issues.

My GP is totally out of options. I know that if my turtle whisperer and I can't find someone for me, then that will be the end of my attempts to find a therapist.

Your story reminds me yet again that I was infinitely safer with Fred than I am now or will most likely ever be again. This in itself is a gigantic muddle. However, the reality is that constantly being dumped by professionals is immensely destructive and totally counter to what those of us with attachment-based issues need. Again I am reminded that although Fred did immense harm, he is without a doubt the reason I survived through my twenties.

From what I can see, mental health professionals genuinely don't get attachment stuff. I really don't see why it is so hard to understand, but apparently it is.

I super wish I had an answer for you @Sans911 (and for me!!!!).
