The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good evening everybody,

I have just got home from my yoga class and I feel so good for having gone. I'm planning to have my second private lesson next week.

@Former-Member I'm planning to go through the thread and figure out where all the videos are, and then put a table of contents on the front page. Given there are almost 100 pages in the thread, it might take me a little while. Maybe after I've done that and everyone is brilliant at all the poses we have covered thus far, we will continue on again.

@Shaz51 It sounds like we may have to resume our virtual classes in the new year then! We have six months worth of poses so maybe we could just start back at the beginning and go through them all again. I had hoped to have a private lesson this week, but I hurt my arm playing in the garden and I am trying to rest it to help it get better (because apparenty constantly poking at it and trying to use it to see if it is better yet isn't the way to make it better!).

@Shaz51 I do not understand the concept of hugs, but I feel all warm and fuzzy that you think I'm awesome.

Re: The great yoga adventure

No I'm not well-balanced yet @Former-Member I still have a long way to go...

@Phoenix_Rising's idea of starting from the beginning - & going through all the poses again sounds like a good place to start.

Maybe I can come up with some weird & wonderful poses that we haven't done yet.

Have you seen some of those pictures of Yogis all twisted & tied up in strange ways (like a pretzel)?

I don't think I'm quite up to that stage yet...

Re: The great yoga adventure

I've been neglectful of my yoga-ing, I'm sorry to say.

I'm very reliant on my classes (2 per week).

My yoga classes don't run during school holidays - so I get out of practice...

My classes start again tomorrow (finally)...

No one in any of my classes does their own private practice (at home) they say.

So we all rely on our classes...

Re: The great yoga adventure

Thanks for the tag @Shaz51. Hello @Former-Member, I havent seen you here yet. Are you currently doing yoga, or is it something you are thinking of taking up?

Like @Adge, I am not a regular at yoga classes. But I do have a gym membership and try to attend a Yoga/Pilates class once a week. Unfortunately I've had other more pressing commitments due to a very ill husband the past couple of weeks. So its meant I havent been able to attend my class since before Christmas. I'm going to be totally out of shape by the time I get back. Urgh. Oh well.

How are our other yogini's going lately? @Phoenix_Rising @frog @Former-Member.

Sherry
