The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

@Phoenix_Rising If all those people were to be a tree each day- together in cyber space - but in separate physical locations would it still be classed as a forest? (something to think about this morning!!!!)

Feeling just a bit sore in the arms this morning. There's another class on this afternoon for newbies called Essentials. I'll book into that one. Might give me more direction. I find the breathing a bit tricky - when to breathe in and out and for how long.

I'm in @Phoenix_Rising !!! Sometimes I am a tree at Pilates, but being a tree every day sounds like fun!

So what do I do hehe How long do you tree for?

That second tree pose looks a bit difficult. Will have to work up to that one.

@soul That is very cool that you are going to go to another class today. A class specifically for newbies sounds great. I am finding it good joining an ongoing class but I can see it would be overwhelming for someone who hadn't played around a bit at home first.

@Zoe7 Giggle. Trees at different times in different physical locations still form the forest of Forum Land. It's magic.

@Former-Member There are no rules about when or for how long you need to tree (how the heck have we turned "tree" into a verb around here within two days!!! ) - the challenge is simply to be a tree each day for a week (we started yesterday). Given how much @CheerBear, @soul and I seem to be enjoying the great yoga adventure, I'm thinking there may possibly be a different challenge next week. I think you need to encourage everyone in the helpcentre to be a tree. You could put a message on the phone: "the helpline is currently unattended due to all help centre staff being trees."

Re: The great yoga adventure

I too have been a tree today @Phoenix_Rising 🙂

I did learn something that's probably pretty important this morning - being a tree with boots on hurts a lot! Yesterday my lesson was that being a tree in a tiny shower with glass doors is slippery and dangerous too. I'm definitely less a common sense person and more an experential learner kind of one 😛

I spent a big chunk of last night lying arms out, palms up and legs crossed, with a rolled up blanket under my spine on the lounge room floor. It felt so good! I thought about how only a few months ago I couldn't do three minutes of sitting palms up without bursting out crying or feeling panicked, so to be able to lie down like that for as long as I have been is a huge improvement 🙂

I love how catchy your enthusiasm is and that forumland is turning into a forest! I will look for a flower kind of pose to add pretty flowers to the forest soon

@Phoenix_Rising

You have really influenced me. I tried to become a part of your forest - with great assistance of your guidelines of how to become a tree. I however - found myseld tumbling down. I don't think this tree is very good at balancing. My roots aren't very stable or planting into the ground, and a move with the wind. Ahah.

Hopefully I will grow stronger and become a true member of the forest.

Re: The great yoga adventure

@Former-Member Wobbly and falling trees are just as much a part of the forest as steady trees.

@Phoenix_Rising I am going to continue to being a Nut in the forest along with @Faith-and-Hope

The forest needs all of us - nuts, seeds, saplings and trees to be sustainable

@Zoe7

Nuts and seeds.. lol.. I can easily cradle into a ball and sleep. Would that count?

@Phoenix_Rising

Also not only do you become a tree in Yoga but also in rollerblading and ice skating! They make you become a tree quite often. I think I am better at being a skating tree. I think it is quite unique 😉
