The great yoga adventure

The great yoga adventure

Hi all,

So...somehow I seem to have made myself a deal with @CheerBear that we are both going to venture into the super scary world of yoga next Monday. I'm SCARED!!!! I've been trying to psych myself up to go to a class for about a year and now thanks to a pesky little care bear, it seems like it is going to happen next Monday.

I have my mat and my outfit (and thanks to @Former-Member and @Former-Member I know to wear underpants under yoga pants ). Now I just need to find some courage. Hmmm...courage...I'm sure I have some here SOMEWHERE in my shell...

Only six sleeps away. This sounds way too close. Yep, this little turtle is going to need to do some serious psyching up before next Monday!!! All encouragement is warmly welcome.

So proud of you two @Phoenix_Rising@CheerBear for persevering. I remember when I used to go to the gym and thinking sometimes that I really didn't want to go. However after a session, I felt great.

It really is all about motivation. I think I may pop my head inside the studio tomorrow and take a peak. They operate seven days a week with classes starting at 6:00am on week days. That's a bit tough on winter mornings. Lots of other options though.

Re: The great yoga adventure

@soul Ooooh I am super excited at the thought of you going to the studio tomorrow. I look forward to a full report.

@CheerBear The class seemed a bit more challenging this week...or maybe I just got into it all a bit more, I'm not sure. I had my socks on for most of the time. At one point we moved off our mats to do something against the wall and I took my socks off then because the floor would be slippery...but then I put them back on for the relaxation bit at the end of the class.

It sounds like you did understand my course vs ongoing description. My class is a jump-in-anytime class. I think it probably is a good fit - just a bit of a steep learning curve. I do like the idea of a 10-week type beginners program though.

Can't wait to hear about it @soul 🙂 I'm so glad @Phoenix_Rising started this thread because it did really help me find the very lost motivation this morning.

@Phoenix_Rising the jump in any time proper yoga class sounds a bit more scary than week one of a very beginner class. It's great that it seems like it will be a good fit for you. I'll still be practicing all the basic poses by the time you are doing all kinds of stands and lifts!

I love that you had your socks on again 🙂 I found one more pair today hiding in the back of the other pairs in not my size. Very happy with this little discovery.

@CheerBear Hooray for a second pair of duck socks!!!!! I found some of my pairs in the not-my-size racks too. I searched allllllllll the racks to find my duck socks.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Good morning @Phoenix_Rising@CheerBear - hope you're both feeling good after another yoga session yesterday. This morning I stopped by my local yoga studio whilst I was out walking. Had a little look around - nice, warm, lovely scent. Spoke to the woman there and she explained which classes are suitable for a beginner.

I reckon I might go for the unlimited yoga for a month deal and try them all out. I want to visit my brother soon so I will delay starting.

But ..... my yoga adventure is coming together.

Fello yoga travellers

how about wearing the vest (you call singlet) on the outside of the top.

similarly if the only tops that you like are those slogan tops wear it inside out?

have you actually had a lesson yesterday? Or will the whole semester consist of deciding what and what not to wear?

must try to remember to tune in again for ensuing episodes.

Re: The great yoga adventure

Hi everyone reading 🙂

I'm about to head out for part 3 of The Great Yoga Adventure. I know how to get there, where I can park, how long it will take to get there and back (and that I have enough time to get my school fish on time), I am not worried about what to do when I get there, there's no forms to fill out today, and I'm comfy in my clothes. I'm looking forward to some chill out time and space. My biggest concern this afternoon is what mess my hair might be in after class. To have this as my concern this afternoon is a nice change from actual concerns, and an indication that I am feeling about eleventy million times better than this time last week.

Happy yoga day @Phoenix_Rising. I hope your afternoon is going ok and that you're feeling better about your adventure tonight too.

🙂
