Hey Life - give me a break.

Hey Life - give me a break.

@PeppiPatty - regarding my story - it probably warrants a thread of its own. Really needing my friends@Shaz51@Faith-and-Hope@Determined@Former-Member@Former-Member@Anony18@outlander@Former-Member @PhoenixRising @Former-Member

Sexually assaulted at age 13. Have never told my family.

Went to uni and moved away afterwards for work so fully independent then.

Came back to my home town after a couple of years.

Had a couple of serious relationships and ended up marrying a narcissist used car dealer (say no more) Basically raised my kids by myself. At 40, he had a fling with a married 19year old who already had a two year old child. He fathered a child with her and I found out some time later when I discovered he was paying child support payments. Stayed in this loveless marriage until the kids had finished school, then divorced which was nasty and I suffered financially big time. Had loaned his business money but didn't have anything legal drawn up. He also moved a lot of money around and had an overdraft on our home.

Got into a relationship with someone who was actually interested in me and shared common interests. It was the best and worst time of my life. He fits all the criteria of BPD. Moved interstate to be with him. The relationship became volatile and he physically assaulted me. This is when I became involved with this Forum. On one occasion, a neighbour called the police and he was arrested. They saw my injuries, he admitted guilt and he was imprisoned. I stood by him all during his incarceration, funding an appeal and he was released after eight months only to be deported as he wasn't an Australian citizen. I joined up with him overseas but the assaults continued. He got sporadic help for his MI but wasn't committed to getting better.

Eventually after yet another particularly bad assault and having the police involved, I returned to Australia and that was four and a half months ago. He appears to be serious about managing his condition now, taking medication, going to support and counselling sessions and hopes that I will return. However, all trust has been obliterated. We still have contact and that can get traumatic at times.

I started off on the Carers' side but find myself on the Lived Experience team as well. I have been having sessions with a psychologist.

Thrown into the mix is my own family. They don't know what I have been through. I used to care for my father and mother, used all my holiday and long service leave, taking time off work and eventually quitting so I could be there for them. Two of my siblings also live nearby but they were more concerned about building wealth than our parents' wellbeing so it was left to me. My father passed away and when I left to be with my partner, my mother's care was transferred to them. I feel they resented my decision but for the first time in my life I felt I was entitled to pursue happiness (not that it turned out that way) The sibs shut me out and when Mum passed away recently things went from bad to worse and as Executors of her will they scattered her ashes when and where they wanted without telling me and are responsible for distributing her estate however they see fit. There was no funeral or memorial service.

I live with my daughter and my son lives with his father. I love my kids with all my heart and live for them. I have a dog (actually my daughter's) who is my constant companion. I do a lot of walking and listening to music to escape the depressing thoughts I feel. I have no idea what to do with my life now and think it's all a cruel joke.

Oh @soul, that all sounds heavy, and complicated 😧
My family barrel over the top of me too. Don't let them change the beautiful person you are.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

I want those DVDs but I don't want to get my hopes up that my sister is actually going to be friendly. Maybe she saw them and thought wow - that's how we used to be. I dunno. I hate being disappointed time and time again @Former-Member.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Can she mail the DVD's to you @soul ..... ?

I imagine that what they did re scattering your mother's ashes is still too raw to want to meet her to receive them.

Hugs .... 💜

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Hi @soul, you really do sound down at the moment, i'm sorry, and things have resurfaced old pain.

With these movies of your mum (important to you), might I suggest you send your sister a 65G USB & stamped return addressed envelope - for her to copy them there for you. My brother has given me a few of his movies this way. Amazing as my TV now has a USB port and plays hours of movies without me having to even get up.

I don't think you're sis is lying about the files being too big to email you. Talking to my son only last night, he has asked for the X-Rays of his broken arm (last week) to be emailed to him from NZ but they refused to do it because "the files are too big" He is disappointed (being a Gen-y, instant minded computer wizz) he has to wait 2-3weeks for snail mail delivery of hard copy DVDs. (Haha, welcomecto thecreal world I can't hep thinking :))

I understand why you don't want to bother negotiating anything with your siblings, the way they just leave you out of things (like scattering the ashes - shame on THEM!), and frightened to let them know what's important to you. Its sad. So much of this, what I read here with your family is all part of the grieving process. The scurry to hang onto what's left, the not wanting to let go, the coming to terms with the void loss leaves in our life... Its hard. Mere humans that we are wr so often stuff it up, how we process it and settle issues, and come to terms with our own mortality...

We're especially lacking when considering feelings of others in crisis or sometimes even knowing what "the right thing is" to do, and doing it. Grief is forced on us, an unwanted intruder.

Your siblings have treated you badly, but can I suggest they are just doing the best they can too, stuffing it up none the less, as we all do at times, but trying. I'm learning to throw it off more these days, it has nothing to do with our worth.

Don't know if I've made any sense.

Soul, I feel your loneliness, and it hurts I know.

I could tell you to 'go out, find friends' or "it takes a friend to be a friend" or "talk to Jesus more"... ... But, I've learned that the most important relationship we have in life is with ourself. We really do have to become our own best friend. Meet our own emotional needs with God, hold our own integrity, values and self worth close.

You know, the more I work on self compassion therapy - the greater resilience I have to other peoples bull dust lol. Or, the less it seemscto matter. Maybe I'm just getting old lol

Oh my goodness, dawn is here - GEMBO bird is starting to chat away, and outside birds songs are calling - I love the gentle morning songs of birds.

Time for a cuppa tea - can I grab you one ☺☕

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Back from nearly three hours of walking - my meditation time. I was watching the river as I checked your heartfelt message @Former-Member. I was hoping to catch a beautiful sunrise but the clouds robbed me of that the result was pretty half arsed. So there I was sitting on a hard cold metal bench tears streaming down my face.

You don't even know me and you have your own sack full of problems to deal with but your words to me filled me with warmth. I really want you to know that. The sadness still pervades into every corner of my being. I know it will pass one way or another. Nothing lasts forever, it all changes - the sea, the sun, the earth. The happy times don't last and neither do the sad. Just difficult to believe that right now. My emotional mind is winning over my intellectual one.

Those videos. I think it will be a while yet until I could even watch them - far too raw to handle that. My sister comes near my home twice a week when she visits her daughter who live she in the same suburb - probably two minutes drive away. I used to see her niece when I went out walking on Sundays. She would be power strolling with her son in the pram. We'd stop and talk. Don't know if my sister ever knew. We would never mention her mother. Haven't seen her since my Mum was in hospital. I don't go that way anymore.

My sister doesn't know where I live. She has never been here and I haven't been to her home in years. I guess I let her know where to send them to and whether she posts them or drops them in my mail box, could be up to her. Haven't spoken to her for ages. Just a few brief words after Mum passed away there where she lay.

The loneliness - I don't know. After I had my long walk this morning, I took the dog for one. I kept my earphones in. I couldn't, didn't want to connect with anyone. My daughter came home last night after going to a food market. When she had told me that she was going, I had said "Bring me back something." As I opened the door, I saw a water bottle in her hand and I jokingly said - "You brought me back some water." She went on the attack - "You don't have to be sarcastic. I did bring you back something. Do you want it or not?"

Well - that sucked the joy out of that encounter. I think her boyfriend was a bit taken aback too. Don't know if something is going on with her. Maybe we'll try to have a conversation tonight if she's home. I certainly don't want to overload her with my problems though. I keep them to myself.

It is hard to not let the hurt affect you. What's the alternative? Be an emotional stone? Maybe that is easier.

As for being my own best friend. I think myself is even feeling the strain there. So, do I try to do the dating thing, looking for some companionship? I read an article that happiness comes notbfrom money or where you live or what you've got but from having fulfilling relationships. I'm sadly lacking in that department. How wonderful it would be to have someone to ask how your day was, to share experiences, just to talk to.

Thanks for the tea. Mine is chamomile and honey. I can feel the warmth of my dog's head against my leg. Sorry I didn't let you sniff for as long as you wanted to at every second tree. I think she forgives me and understands my sadness.

Re: Hey Life - give me a break.

Hi @soul .... I hear you ..... ❣️

If it's any consolation at all, my baby dragons bite like that sometimes when they are upset about something else and I "say the wrong thing at the wrong time" .... which actually has nothing to do with me and everything to do with them .... it's misplaced anger .... a family trait it would seem at the moment ....

I really feel that loneliness after losing my mum, and then WH going through the changes that he has .... loneliness within a "relationship" that can't be a relationship with the three of us in it .... me, him, and the e.d. and that has left room for MIL in here as well .... really wish I had my mum to talk to about it all and commiserate with .... a kindred spirit ....

Are there places where you can turn up and join in on something .... like a walking group .... that is a bit "take it or leave it" for now ... where you can turn up for some company if you feel like it, but it's no big deal if you don't ? That way if you feel comfortable you will naturally start to spend more time with them.

Sometimes community events are advertised at the library .... and even changing books regularly you will meet regular library-goers ....

Do you have a local community centre with advertised events ?

Non-pushy churches can be very good too, if you have faith in what they teach. And if they have faith in what they teach, they ought to be very gentle with you, and meet you where you are at ....

Hugs @soul .....
