Re: Good Morning!

Well I went for my walk. I'm not as good as @soul and your mammoth efforts, but it was just long enough. My back, hip and shoulder are still screaming, but I expect that to take some time to settle down. I can't take any pain medication as I have a possible gut bleed. So just another thing to bear through in this time. I live in a much older, established part of my city, so it was really nice to see some of the older homes on my walk. I'm not sure what my next small goal is, but I've hopefully taken a step today up out the hole I'm in. My attitude shifted this morning when I realised that all the people in the world can guide me how to get out of this hopeless pit of depression I'm in, but in the end it's up to me mostly to beat this.

Re: Good Morning!

@Sans911 do you listen to any music while you are walking? I am sitting at the computer with my headphones on with my music blaring (Hehehe! I will never grow up :P).

Re: Good Morning!

@Faith-and-Hope thank you. I've had these shifts before and sometimes they've puttered our before they even got going. Considering I'm not in therapy or on medication I'm surprised. But I'm very high functioning, and something my mh case manager said yesterday struck a cord. She said I swing between two extremes, the sad, rejected child once was (and continue to be) and the high functioning career person; I need to find a middle ground. And that's hard to go there.

I don't want to take away anything from others journeys. They are extremely difficult, painful and challenging. As has mine been, and will continue to be for some time. But we have to hang in there, try and try and sometimes try again to make a small step in a different direction.

Re: Good Morning!

@Bunniekins yes, usually I do because I can't stand the noises of my city/suburb. I live near a very busy train line and can gear trains coming and going every few minutes at peak times. And there's a lot of pipe work going on too. But today I wanted to hear those noises because they remind me that I am alive today, and my heart beats just like the city's and I have a rhythm just like the city. So I absorbed, let them wash over me. And something I would have missed if I had headphones in would be the sounds of chickens in someone's backyard and the laughter of kookaburras at the same time.

I like all sorts of music, depending on my mood. My car is the favourite place for me to play music, really loud and my hands tapping on the steering wheel. I got to re-listen to all my old CDs when I moved a while back. My personal stuff was in storage for 12 years!

Re: Good Morning!

Even little goals are good goals @Sans911. Be careful not to overdo things. Listen to your body. We are proud of you and will cheer you on to bigger and better things. I still have some of my CDs. Technology has let me down in the past and I lost my iTunes bought music.

I don't put the earphones in whilst I am walking the pooch as I try to make that my socialisation time not that it amounts to much. When by myself though, I choose music according to my mood.

What are you enjoying listening to these days?

Re: Good Morning!

I can understand that @Sans911 ..... I live with an extended family who deal in extremes, and I think that is WH's primary issue ..... he needs to develop middle ground.

Re: Good Morning!

@Sans911 I love that about Australia ... our birdlife that can be found in the big cities! Where I live there are corellas, cockatoos, rosellas, magpies etc the sounds they make are beautiful and I always love watching what they get up to ... particularly the corellas they are a very cheeky bird!

12 years in storage ... I bet that was a cathartic experience!

Re: Good Morning!

@Bunniekins 6months is a later it's still a cathartic experience! I'm nearing the end if the sorting and declutter though. Some days I really felt like backing a skip up to the house! I'd been travelling and living overseas in that entire time, so there was also that stuff to sort as well! Its been interesting, happy, sad and revealing at times if a different life I had. But I'll be very happy to see the end.
