It's your birthday @outlanderso I reckon you should be able to celebrate how you like. As for the Facebook thing, I remember when a couple of my son's friends wanted to add me but I just ignored it. Thought it was a bit weird actually. I think it was more about having a lot of Facebook friends rather than wanting to connect.

@outlander Your mother will have to get over it. I was just saying it's not a given that your mother should be Facebook friends with your friends.
Not minimising what is going on with you but my sister deleted me from Facebook. Not only that but she and my brother spread my mother's ashes without inviting me to participate. She sent me a photo saying how lovely it was. I responded by telling her that I was deeply offended to which she replied that Mum hadn't said they had to be part of my life.
I was very upset but have now accepted that just because we share genetics doesn't make them a decent person or even someone that I need to have in my life. I don't want that toxicity and just have to move on. We live in the same town and I know she visits her daughter who lives a couple of blocks away twice a week but I can't see us ever reconciling.
I am lucky to have friends who are more like true sisters to me.
As hard and scary as it seems, I reckon that you should really move away. So many of your problems appear to stem from being in that household and having responsibilities that shouldn't be bestowed on you. Is there any other family who you could stay with? Otherwise, some government assistance and live in a share house somewhere. You are an adult now and it is most acceptable that you spread your wings and fly.
