In the recent weeks to manufacturers recalled the same medication. Unfortunately I am on that medication and cannot stop - I am on a withdrawal scheme.
The problem is that I am not only losing faith into the effected medication but also all other ones I'm taking (which I shouldn't stop cold turkey either).
How often does this happen???? I just don't feel safe taking my meds now. At the moment I'm just wondering what this all means. If I've been on other meds, what impact does that have? I'm really scared about this and would really like some support.

Hi @Former-Member, Can you go to your pharmacist? It would only be certain batch numbers that would be recalled so if you go to your pharmacist they would be able to check if your batch was affected and possibly replace your meds with some unaffected batches.

Oh and in my studies in pharmacology, it happens pretty rarely in the Australian system. Our medications are usually sourced from reliable places and not often affected by contamination. Each batch are tested to ensure they are high quality and contain the right amount of medication.

Hi @HT-5
I've done that, but I'm concerned when I will find out that there is another scam, another of my meds affected.

Thanks @HT-5
Even if it's rare, how can contaminated batches enter the market, if they get tested? Is there a certain kind of meds that has a higher potential on the black market? It took me so long to trust my doctor to put me on meds and now I'm starting to doubt the Pharma industry 😞

Yeah, I get that. It's like you've had your trust eroded. And when you're already questioning whether it's worth it to take the meds in the first place it makes it doubly hard. Maybe talk to your pharmacist and find out how often it happens? But I don't think it happens often at all. If it did we would hear about it more in the media. I think it's safe to continue to take them, and I think another scam is very very unlikely.

Re: Meds recall - scared to take my meds
If it's the medication I think it is, it is one of the more highly abuseable medications other than opiates. That's why it's been affected. Anti-d's, and anti-p's and mood stabilsers are much much less likely to be affected as they are not as popular for abuse.
