Knocked Up

Knocked Up

FML FML FML

I've just found out that I am pregnant... The father is someone I've known for years but have only been seeing him for a few months. I told him when I found out and he was calm and supportive but offered no opinion of his own.

I have no clue what the eff I should do about this or what I want... I'm scared of both possible outcomes.... I'm not in a position to raise a child and I'm not sure how I feel about the father - he's lovely but its not love???

Re: Knocked Up

Hugs if you want them. Its not an easy place to be and I cant give you advice on which way to go but i will be here supporting you no matter what. Think about what you want, what you're able to do and if you feel up to it talk to someone you trust. If you need to talk to someone you dont know (sometimes thats easier?!?!) I found an australian pregnancy advice group who offer free non judgemental, non denominational group that can listen and support.

all the best,

Re: Knocked Up

The main thing you should know, is that you are not alone and that you can have help through this. I can't tell you what to do either, because that is your choice and your's alone. I have no judgement either and the important thing is probably to have some time to think, about now and the future.

There are many places you can get advice. I have not used any of those services myself, so I hope that someone who might have been in a similiar situation can offer better advice on places that are really good!

I found this website, that might have some helpful information http://www.pregnancybirthbaby.org.au/ and possibly people to talk to.

Re: Knocked Up

Hi Simple As This, I just wanted to acknowledge your post and situation. You know how we often hold 'picket fence' ideas about how the big events in our life are going to occur? Idealistic versions that can make real life seem way less than ideal. It sounds like you're in one of those right now. I reckon we all get to be at some point. Real life happens in its own way and its own time. Our job is to work out the best way to deal with it. The way that moves us towards health and happiness or whatever else our goal is.

As @Former-Member and @Moon said, no-one can work out the right course but you. The referrals they gave should help you find it. All I can add really is to take time with this. I'm sure there's some panic and you may feel the need to work it out NOW! But this is something you need to sit with and work through.

I wish you all the very best SAT. I'm sure you'll work it out.

Re: Knocked Up

Hey I found out I'm pregnant as well.

I don't want this baby... I knew straight away. I've had a few doubts but it's the best decision for me and for the baby, and the baby daddy. It was a one night stand but he lives in Sweden and I live in Melb but I'm from the UK and don't have a visa to live here forever.

So I told uni and the lady at uni was in the same boat and she did exactly what I did - she didn't regret it. I've spoken to lots of people who had an abortion and they didn't regret it either. I'm not saying you won't regret it... I'm saying whatever decision you make is BRAVE. It's brave to have a child you didn't plan and its brave to plan to terminate.

1/3 women have terminated a baby for whatever reasons.

Talk to people.

Re: Knocked Up

Much appreciated guys... Reading your comments makes me feel a bit more calm about everything.

@Former-Member thank you especially, your advice stopped me from making a rushed and panicked decision.

I've been thinking about so many aspects of my life over the past few days, realising a lot. While I haven't made THE DECISION, I've decided IT depends on choosing a path that may be the most responsible and probably in the 'what's best for me' column - or a path with much more possibility and independence.
My grandmother obviously thinks I'm an idiot and shouldn't be a "selfish little b***h" (meaning: get rid of it)....

Hi @SimpleAsThis

I read your post on friday and you have been in my thoughts since then.

I can't offer much other than my virtual

**HUGS**

Congrats that you seem a lot calmer than your first post.

There are times in our lives where the heart and the mind are in a battle, alligning the two can be, and is, a horrible time. Take the time to trust yourself and please try to accept that you do deserve love. Regardless of whatever those around you say.

My thoughts are with you at this time my friend

Lots of warmth to you

Re: Knocked Up

Hi @SimpleAsThis, just read through this thread, & wondered how you've been going. Want you to know I am thinking of you, & wishing you all the best, as I've been in a similar situation more than once & had to make various choices based on the circumstances at the time. I took into account my current situation from a health, financial, relationship, & future plans perspective, and spoke at length with my partner, doctors, & others whose input I valued (without discussing it with those who I had a fair idea would take a negative approach) prior to making a final decision.
No matter what you decide/have decided, I'd like to say that you are doing/have done the best and right thing for you, because you've looked into things & taken time to deliberate prior to coming to a conclusion. My thoughts are with you, & I support you in your decision (nomatter what) because you are doing your best. Remember to be kind to yourself, & try not to judge yourself in the future because of your decision- you are doing your best in the 'now'.
Sending you thoughts of care & support if you want them 😌
