SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

WINTER BLUES 😞

Does anyone else start getting really down in May? As long as I can remember - may is a difficult month for me, long before the Major Depression label. It spirals into slothful living and sleeping the winter away. Even though I love autumn weather, on the inside I just want to go to sleep and bide my time 'till spring comes - when I know i get a burst of energy back. Lots of people suffer SAD, and for some its serious. Its a well documented condition, and in my case compounds existing depression & anxiety, the tipping point. I noticed here on the forums last year that a lot of us struggled to get through winter, even here in mild Australian weather. What, if any are your winter blues symptoms in the winter?

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Welcome to the Forum Family @Former-Member

I can imagine how gloomy it can be in the NW United States - I guess you get snow with all the muck and slush and stuff - snow can be so pretty when the sun shines but just a few days of it can make me feel really tired of the monochromatic view - I had three solid days of snow on holidays once and I was so glad to drive out of the mountains into the sun

I live in Melbourne and we get spells of gloomy days in late Autumn and early winter - it seems to get better with the winter solstice when the wind seems to blow the ice out of the air

Okay @Shaz51 - I can just about hear Mr Shaz feeling down about the weather - he is in the club and you too - and @Former-Member - thanks for the pics - I really like the one with the snow family - not going to say why - that would be giving away too much of my sense of humour

So the bleakness is really starting to rot my socks - joining in the fun - [not] - just thinking that one more gloomy day passing is one more gloomy day past - I do not like counting blessings - just like to work my ways past all of it

Sending hugs though and I might try and find a snow man joke myself before I go out

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Hi @Shaz51

If Mr Shaz is getting up to make cuppas I would love a coffee - instant is fine -

It must be really hard to be encouraging for Mr Shaz when you are battling to keep yourself on an even keel - I get that - I know this is a bothersome situation - I get it too that you are unlikely to get any encouragement yourself - and I am not thinking that in an unkind way - when you married him you guys must have been good friends in love and that must be a wonderful memory - he became ill - mentally ill - and your have physical problems and there is a bit of cross-over for both of you

But most women seem to get on with things - as tough as they often are - just a little bit better than the guys

Did I mention that it's been proven that man-flu is real - men suffer more - the hormone oestrogen - wonderful as it is - we need it for all the female parts of us to work - including being there for others -

Fantastic that 0_|_]

I haven't been feeling well much - very so-so - since I have been taking these darn BP Tablets - I told my doctor today and I have to have all these blood and urine tests - suffering cats - I did not want to here that - mostly my thyroid is getting the works - aw - sheesh - this has not cheered me up one bit

I'm getting older - that's my excuse and it's working so I am sticking with it
