Anxious and uncertain..

Anxious and uncertain..

I'm just struggling with my anxiety and energy levels. I did have a sleep this afternoon. I am not sure about seeing my doctor that I have been seeing for 17 years. At times she gets to me, and her telling me too much about herself it gets to me because I then worry about her. I sometimes think she is not being honest with me, when I saw her during the week she tells that she doesn't have much, I don't know what to make of this. To me I see it has being unprofessional. I think its time for change..

Re: Anxious and uncertain..

@utopiaThanks - it did feel good speaking up for myself. I just feel stuck with this decision to stay or to find another Doctor. The good thing is that I have options. I have often put others first at my detriment. Did you find it hard changing Doctors after seeing the same Doctor for so long? How are you going after hospital- are finding you have the support?

Re: Anxious and uncertain..

@oceangirl. I had to change. I moved too far away to keep visiting him. So for ten years I just went to any old doctor. Didn't care who I saw. When I moved to this town I found a doctor I liked. So I'm lucky.
Life after hospital. I wanted to stay longer. My psychiatrist, and the NUM at the hospital argued with Workcover that the initial 5 day stay wasn't enough. They increased it by another 5 days. My Psych tried to get more - but Worksafe said no. Worksafe did the same with other workcover clients. Made us leave before we are ready.
I go to hospital when I get SI only. While there I made my first suicide plan. Have felt SI a few times since coming home on Monday. And another plan popped into my head.
Can't see my psychiatrist until Workcover approves it again. Can't see my psychologist til next Friday. Urges to drink generally hit every afternoon. My son isn't talking to me and is refusing to come home. So when I struggle - I sleep. Even if I have to take the sleeping meds. It's either that or I don't feel safe.
I have Reactive Depression or Situational Depression and also called Adjustment disorder with Depression and anxiety. They say most people are 'over it', 'cured' within 6 months. Been over 2 & 1/2 years.
That was a whinge. But I'm doing okay tonight. Afternoons are when I struggle the most.
How are you coping? You've been out for a month now - yes?

Hi again @utopia . I am glad you have found a Doctor you like. I am sorry you where not able to extend your stay in hospital that seems unfair to me. Is workcover and worksafe the same? Is there anything you can do to work around those restrictions or limitations - I am not sure if you could access the services through private health insurance instead of workcover. Its good that you recognize when you are most vulnerable and hopefully work through these times - put some plans in place to build resilance and strength for you moving forward.

I have been out of hospital six weeks from last Thursday it has gone quite fast and I have been coping quite well. I have had a few days when I struggled initially coming out of hospital but once I started to take some action I did feel better. Its hard because I am interstate from where I was admitted so there is no ongoing care. But at the end of the day I am the one that needs to do the work for me.

I am heading away on Tuesday until Sunday next week. I have a fair bit to do before me going away. I have to just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Re: Anxious and uncertain..

@oceangirl. I went for a long drive up through the mountains the other day. That was calming. I've spoken to the local AA in town and I've promised to go to their meeting on Monday night.
I spoke to a group called GROW. They are based in a nearby town and they meet for 2 hours of structured talk around MI & self care. So that's Monday during the day. So I've put some pkans in place. But I just feel so vulnerable some times and that's scary.
I have no private insurance. All businesses must have Workcover insurance & follow the laws set out by Worksafe. It started in Victoria. But is going National. There aim is to get people back to work asap. The insurance companies aim is to make the mist orifit fir their shareholders.
I went to a city hospital where they have day programs. But like you - they are tio far away and not in my area so I'll give GROW a try.
I hope your trip this week is for pleasure - maybe a nice short holiday.
Yes. One foot in front of the other. Doing whatever we need to (that's safe) to keep going.
We will get there. Logically I know this is just a set back and I can and will get better. It's my depression and negative self talk that says the opposite. Just have to make the logic voice louder.
I hope your trip is good, whatever the reason and it goes smoothly for you

Re: Anxious and uncertain..

@utopiaI remember you saying something about the mountain when you where in hospital when you where talking to the nurse. I do know from my recent hospital stay and you probably know too that AA does have online meetings. I am not sure if having a meeting day would help.

I know the insurance company is looking at making profits and their aim is to get people back to work as soon as possible- like what you said. There does seem a lack of care and compassion for people who have had injuries at work. I hope the specialist can continue to help you and sucks about the hospital situation it really does. You would think the Doctor would have been able to write a good report and they would support his recommendations.

I try to tap into my logical side I think mine has always been stronger. I think that is a good thing, it helps us to avoid negative situations. I think I might try to get some sleep. PS I am going away for a holiday and to catch with some friends- hopefully recharge my batteries....

@oceangirl recharging your batteries in a new location sounds like a great idea. Enjoy catching up with your friends. I hope you have a great trip.

@utopia I am hoping it will be fun- its just stressful doing everything before you you go away. I just have to push on.

Re: Anxious and uncertain..

@oceangirl. It does take a lot of energy out of you - getting ready to leave for a trip.
The day before going to hospital - I finally managed to put clean sheets on my bed - but no doona cover. I was exhausted after that.
I came home to find my Dog had been on my bed. Muddy footprints and black Labrador hair everywhere. Lol. And I just wanted to come home to a clean bed.
