The Weekly Friday Feast

The Weekly Friday Feast

Thank goodness it's Friday (or TGIF as some say!)

We thought we would start a thread where we could come together every Friday and "share a meal" and debrief about our week.

To participate, there are 2 requirements -

1) Bring a (virtual) plate of food

2) Bring a topic of discussion

So pull up a virtual chair, post a picture or description of what (virtual) dish you're bringing along and say hi and let us know how your week was.

Looking forward to seeing you at our first Friday Feast!

Chat soon 🙂

Hi @Shaz51, not sire about the kidney function (but sure a biochemist or Nutritional Medicine Dr can point you in the right direction with reversing and preventing disease. I do however understand Diabetes. I am also a PRE-DIABETIC. Its the carbs, starch & sugars that need to be reduced. You need to be on a Low Glicemic Diet. Study Glycemic Index. Stevia (a natural calorie free sweetener / plant)- Stevia has been proved to prevent diabetes. Also, losing weight can stop the onset of diabetes. Not only that, outside of the 'medical model' diabetes itself can be reversed. I look at my dad who, after 40yrs on insulin, no longer requires insulin and he's sugars are great, and he's lost 20kg without trying. I always thought diabetes for life. But like most things, its nor black and white, its greyscale, mild to severe. prediabetics are mild, Well, that's my simplistic understanding. Just wanted you to know what I know. Give up sugars completely, increase roughage in your diet, fibre, coconut is great. Anyway, go outside the 'medical' box (try alternative Medicine ), you'll be pleasantly surprised. xox

@Former-Member .... what a miserable thing to happen !!

(I caught your other post, but now I have lost which thread it was on ....)

And when you thought of the person as a friend, it's that much harder again ....

Feeling for you Hon ....

I hate that "attention seeking mentality" thing ... as if !!! Wish for one minute they could walk in your shoes !!

Grrr ....

Hugs n hugs, sweet thing .... you just keep keeping on @Former-Member .... and let life come around of its own accord to teach her some proper empathy ....

Oh @Former-Member .... you do deserve to be alive .... but you need to find that place of self-acceptance .... self-nurturing .... keep working towards it and we are all walking with you Hon ..

You are unique and have special things within you to give, and to develop .... negative thoughts get planted somehow, but they have to be found and weeded out so more positive ones can be plant d to replace them.

Hugs n hugs .... just keep swimming ....

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

Many thanks for your thoughts - for this year those dates are past - and it was easier - whatever has taken place since my mother died has made everything easier - and it was my mother that I had to work on first

So what could it be that broke the spell of the evil witch in the fairy tale? Remember what I was too afraid to remember was the beginning and having therapy - and working hard at it - and having found so much understanding in this website and the prayers of people like yourself - I am a great believer in prayer

In January I have the anniversaries of both my parents - just a few days apart actually - as well as the few years in between - and these don't bother me at all - they were elderly and had their lives - it would be different if I had not already suffered a worse loss or they died when I was young -

Today I feel peaceful and rather tired - I like peaceful quiet Saturdays. I have done most of the purchasing for Christmas - and someone wrapped the parcels for me - that is one task I am never good at and waste a lot of paper.

Thanks for thinking of me and asking

Hi @Former-Member

I didn't read your post before I went to bed - I am trying to tidy my life - and sleep at the right time - but it still took ages to get things tidy before I went to bed

But thanks for letting me know how my posts help you - I wish I had stayed but then - we all need to stop at sometime -

I hope you feel better today - I know you have all these anniversaries banging you in the face at this time of year - okay - I will have my long run of landmines in the winter - I think I might take in the Great Barrier Reef next winter - but I will wait and see -

Still - you are in my mind and prayers - one thing we must always remember is to let people know if we are praying for them. A long time ago I had a church lady tell me she didn't think it was necessary to let people know if we are praying for them but it is very necessary

Life will continue and the years will take some of the pain - but that could sound like such a platitude - but take it from an old soldier - one battle is very much the same as all the others and something you would rather not have

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hello @Former-Member, @Decadian, @Faith-and-Hope, @Zoe7, @Former-Member, @Former-Member

Look what happens when I go to bed xx

Thank you so much @Former-Member, it is very interesting my friend

it is explained to me by the specialist is that the filter of the kidney is damaged so instead of the waste going through to the toilet

the waste (toxins) that the kidney is suppose to get rid of goes back into my blood stream and causes other problems

so I am on stomach acid tablets, Cholestrol tablets and blood pressure tablets so far

so with your information @Former-Member , I am going to make some changes and I think these would be good for hubby too
