The Weekly Friday Feast

The Weekly Friday Feast

Thank goodness it's Friday (or TGIF as some say!)

We thought we would start a thread where we could come together every Friday and "share a meal" and debrief about our week.

To participate, there are 2 requirements -

1) Bring a (virtual) plate of food

2) Bring a topic of discussion

So pull up a virtual chair, post a picture or description of what (virtual) dish you're bringing along and say hi and let us know how your week was.

Looking forward to seeing you at our first Friday Feast!

Chat soon 🙂

Hi @CherryBomb & everyone else,

I have had a horror week, and things are not looking much better tonight, looks like my DSP is going to be cut off soon, so back to living on $1,000 per year, living off mum again. I am in such a low place, i will just read and not upset everyones happyness tonight.

@Former-Member that's a real bugger. Sound like you got your hopes up - and rightly so - only to have them brought back down again. Sounds frustrating! I know it might not mean much, but my (wise) brother once told me that somtimes when things don't work out the way we would like them to, it's a blessing in disguise.

@Jacques sorry to hear the sad news. Glad you're here.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Sorry guys, i have only had the DSP for the past 13 months, before that i had nothing no job, no government payments, mum gave me $1,000 per year for bills and food, all i could afford was sandwiches for lunch and dinner, every meal, and it looks like i am going back to that, i lived like that for the past 7 years.

i had to shower out of a bucket because we had no hot water, had to get 4 peices of ham for my sandwiches every day because we had no fridge, only an esky, life was crap for those 7 years, i don't know if i can go back to that, it was so degrading.

why are poor people a "punching bag" for the public and politicians? i have family and mum's friends calling me a bludger and get comments from strangers too, i don't know, i am findign it really hard to go on any more. i know i am a wast of space and a burden to society, always will be..................

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@CherryBomb yeah, i agree, it might have been the best thing really. And it has been good to be home with the kids more and for the first time have the time to focus on getting myself a bit healthier.. slowly. Plus i wasnt sure how i was going to cope with the trial thats coming up anyways so.... onwards we go.

@Jacques - I can only imagine how hard things must seem right now and its so crap that thye can cut your pension. Would you be able to get advice/medical certificates from a psychiatrist to help you? maybe you could contact a service like MIND who can help with referrals and finding out what supports are available. or a similar group in your state?

Keep fighting, you deserve so much more
