Where to begin???

Where to begin???

Hi everyone and i am just new to this site/forum. Here is a little bit about myself.

i am 39yrs old and i have 3 kids and a partner. I was diagnosed with anxiety/depression about 2yrs ago and my life has felt like this merry go round that i can't get off! I am struggling to deal with all of the challenges that life has thrown my way and i so desperately want to change the way my life is right now and to find the strength to fight the battles that i am dealing with.

I have had friends along the way to try and help as well as family although i feel that i am not helping myself enough yet i am struggling with taking that first step or to be consistent before i get so overwhelmed. Eventually all my friends grew impatient with me and now i am just this recluse who hides from the world. I don't know where to begin to get my life in order!!! Our financial situation is also rather drastic which makes it difficult to get the correct help i need as well as we don't have a car and the public transport is very limiting in our area so getting a job, going to support groups is almost an impossible task.

I know that things will eventually be okay and that no matter what I will survive all this, but at the moment feeling so lonely, isolated with limited resources makes it difficult to try and get off this merry go around. People around me find it hard that i can't just get on with it and plough through, even i get frustrated with myself! I almost feel like i need someone to "hold my hand" and deal with each issue!

I have survived 8.5 yrs of dosmetic violence, i have survived incarceration due to commiting fraud to try and get away from a dosmetic violent situation, i have survived countless judgements ever since for the last 10yrs, plus i have survived many more!!! Why am i struggling to survive now????

Anyway thank you for the opportunity to vent somewhat! Beats sitting here and just have things go round and round in your head all day long and feeling like you haven't achieved anything!

Re: Where to begin???

Hi jayne,

Welcome to the forum

Thank you for sharing your story with us here and sounds like you have survivied through many events in life already. Congratulations!

Every life event is different and at I'm sure we all feel tired to face some of them sometimes especially you're feeling you're on your own. Sounds like you need some people to be present for you but it must be feeling awful your friends may not be the option.

There is a national number for a program called MiNetworks (1800 985944). It is a service for people to ring up to find out resources related to mental wellness based on people's local area.

At the same time, try to do some search on this forum by putting in key words such as `depression', `anxiety' and `support' to start with. Some people are amazed by how much this forum is able to offer so I hope you'll find the same.

Take Care,

Sky

Hi @jayne welcome to the forums,

There are lots of people here who will have some understanding of parts of your journey and what its like to live with the ups and downs of anxiety and depression. I have both and struggle daily with it at the moment. I havent been able to work this year which has also made me feel a lot more a lone and isolated as i have very few friends and no family. Its a struggle to find the energy to reach out, but this place helps to feel like im still a part of the world. So i guess i'm saying i do relate to what you wrote and where you're coming from. I also see a psychologist which helps and a mental health worker who i have just started to get to know is going to help me work on developing more of a social network. It may be of help to you if you can reach out to your local gp or community health service (not sure what state your're in) to find out what supports might be available to help you manage things.

I have two children (4 and 6) and also had to leave my ex partner because of violence, coming on 2 years ago now, all of which is still dragging through the courts.

Glad that you have found us here and hope that you keep posting and find this space useful to you.

Take care,

LJ
