Still living with Schizophrenia
Hi,
A little about myself, I am 40 and was diagnosed with mild Schizophrenia in 2002. The first eposide came out of the blue. I was yelling at my parents and they was very upset. And had no idea why I was doing this. I couldn’t control my thoughts. They knew something was wrong and I was out of character. I went to bed that night and had trouble sleeping. Got out of bed and turned my parents bed room light on. I told them I could hear voices, and asked them if they heard them to. For some reason I remember these episodes, hence the mild diagnosis. I told them I need to see a Psychiatrist, I really don’t know why I said this, but I still remember saying this. Next morning I could not sit still, tried sleeping. The voices were in my head again. I saw my GP with my parents and the doctor told me had I been smoking marijuana, I was not in a state to comment as I was confused. I hadn’t smoked anything as I was in the house with my parents. My parents told me about this later. I still don’t know what brought these episodes on. Maybe stress.
After that we travelled to the pharmacy to get some medication to help me sleep. I had another episode, I thought that someone was trying to steal something from me. The doctor also gave me a referral to a Psychiatrist to help with the problem. I am still seeing this doctor still this day. He has given me medication which I am still taking.
I remember things about the episodes quite regularly. Still hear voices. One thing I stress is take your medication that has been given to you. What I am writing here sounds stupid, but these are some of the things that have happened to me. I have a lot of stories. This is just one of them.
