What is normal in the world

What is normal in the world

Let alone having Bipolar making me feel different I just in general feel defective.

My graduating class and friends well majority of them are married with children.

They are doing what "Life" is meant to be. Education, Travel, Love, Work, House, Children, Retire,
Grandparents, Die and Repeat.

The fact I haven't got children dose not phase me. The fact I don't have a house or killer job/education doesn't worry me. What upsets me is the fact I don't want these things. I don't want what life is. I feel like a weirdo.

It's bad enough being mentally ill but then not wanting what the world is about on top of it makes me feel very isolated.

I try talking to friends and family about this and their reply is these people living this life might not be happy and I'm like I never said if they are happy or not. And that I will change my mind one day and it's normal to be scared of starting a family. But I don't have fear about it. That's not what's stopping me. I just don't think they get what I'm saying. I'm not upset I don't have those things I'm upset I don't want life.

I look at everyone I know and they seem so content and happy with where they are in life and me I need more. I can't stop.

My husband last night asked me if I'm happy with today. If I just sit in and take in what's around me and happy with it. My answer is I don't live in the day. I live for tomorrow. I'm tiered.

I actually was asset for Asperger's syndrome when I was young when the teachers noticed I was not that right. Again they just said gifted. My mother just gave me all my records from it and yeah they said I got zero known difficulties Im just Special Giffted reality strange.

@Former-Member I'm not sure how old you are, but I know there is a whole cohort of women around my age (39) who were missed in childhood as being aspie because the diagnostic criteria are heavily focused towards how it presents in males. Indeed, even today, most mental health professionals don't seem to have a clue about ASD in females. It is very much an emerging area of research.

Anyway, whatever your particular difference is, it's totally ok, you know. I have neither children nor partner. The only romantic relationship I've had was the one I had as a young teen when a youth group leader took a "special interest" in me. "Normal" simply means that it is what the majority of people do. It isn't a value judgement or anything. And yes, most adults at some point have a romantic relationship and most adults produce children. But that doesn't make it somehow more right or more acceptable than the alternative. It's simply a matter of numbers - most people do that. It's totally ok not to.

I do yearn for "something more". For me, that is employment. I desperately want to be self-sufficient and off welfare. But aside from that, I'm ok with just being these days. I super like my world to be calm, quiet and predictable. It must be really tough longing for something more without knowing what that something more is. You've probably already done this, but I'm wondering what it would be like to kind-of imagine you are at the end of your life and looking back over it. If you were to say "I wish I had..." I wonder what you might come up with? I wonder if that would maybe give you a clue about what this mystery thing is that you are longing for. That could be a totally stupid idea. Again, just throwing it out there.

I'm a little bit younger then you. I've got two nephews on my parntners side with it. I did some little tests (I know they are not accurate) and they all came back with very low numbers of not having it. Unlike I do a bipolar test boom high range. I can see why you would think that but then there's a lot about me that 100% dose not fit that.

Oh yes the good old youth leaders. I 100% understand that church world except I wasn't taken a special interest in. I was the devil.

Hopefully one day you can find a work which is calming and suits your lifestyle.

All I know is when I look at back at my life I don't want to see regret. Which my life is already is full of. I don't want to see fear holding me back. I want to see a life lived that has shown love to everyone and some crazy stories.
