14th year house bound

14th year house bound

Hi Everyone,

I am new hear, after being removed from other mental health forums for my depressive thoughts i thought i would give this forum a try, this is my story.

I am 33 live with my mother, i am almost compeatly housebound, i leave my house once in the morning for a walk at 6am and maybe once during the week, both times i leave the house fill me with great anxiety, i have no friends, (the last friend i had was in 2001), i have never had a job, never had a girlfriend and never been able to leave my parents side, my father died in 2001 and i have always suffered seperation anxiety the last time i had a night away from home was 1994 for one night (parents had to pick me up at midnight because i was so frantic).

I have spent most of the past 14 years in my room, or the shed, never much out of the yard, no one in my town knows me, people stare and ask each other behind my back if any one knows who i am.

I have only had an income for the past year and spend the previous 7 with no income at all, mum had to use all of her life savings to allow me to live with her and she now has nothing.

I only want to live long enough to care for her in her old age and then i plan to take my own life, i knew from an early age my life would turn out like this, but had no idea how horrible it would be, every day is the same, i often wonder why i keep going, i have very little contact with family (maybe once a year) and i am really struggling to keep going.

Please don't feel distressed about what i am saying, and i am so sorry if i have offended anyone, it is just how i feel.

Their is so much more, but i will leave it at that for the moment, i am shaking and the anxiety is kicking in so thankyou for reading and i will add more later.

Jacques

Re: 14th year house bound

Jacques as soon as I saw the man who was house bound I was shocked, and I knew it would effect you deeply. Just too close to home.

I hope you are prepared tonight.

There are no other places I have to go where the treating team work from. That's why I end up in the same place. They handle the eastern part of Melbourne.

I wished I could do more for you I came online straight away last night asking if you were ok. I knew you would be in such a dark place I was so concerned for you.

I wish I could be protected I feel so overwhelmed

I know you did Karen, i saw your message about half way through the show, i knew if i spoke to you it would make you more worried, you are such a great friend, the things i was thinking last night scared the shit out of me, i could imagine how much more you would have worried about me.

Karen, i promise tonight i will talk to you, i feel better prepared, please if you are in the same situation as i was last night, talk to me, you can't say anything more scary than i was thinking last night.

I know you feel overwhelmed my angel, i can see it in your writing, maybe an idea to distract, it is out of your hands now, the treating team will make their decision, you can't change the future, so stay in the present.

What you felt last night is how I feel now. And then some.....

Re: 14th year house bound

I know Karen, it is really tough for you at the moment, what a day you have had, you never seem to get a break.

Karen make sure you call lifeline if you need it. how did i distract last night, well after the show i listened to music as loud as i could stand it, it was the only way to get rid of the thoughts.

Karen maybe the rubber band might be a good idea tonight. every time you have those thoughts snap it.

Maybe even step out the back of the house and take in some deep breaths, it is what i do and it does work sometimes.

Have you tried the rubber band. Jacques, did it help?

Did you do any work on the house today?

Re: 14th year house bound

KAren i did find the rubber band worked, it is a good distraction, it takes your mind back to the present.

Well the house, yes i did, i have cut the masonite underlay for the toilet, it was a complex shape to make, then i started with the top layer of plaster on the walls, and then i started painting the ceiling, just waiting for the plumber, he s so busy it does not look like it will be this week.
