My Hospital Stay

My Hospital Stay

So I arrived here at midday today.
Feeling a bit lost. Everything is so ... strange.
Not sure what to do now.
Starting to get a bit anxious. A bit teary. Trying hard not to think, or to feel.
Wishing I had a bourbon or some chips or junk food. Something to keep me busy and not feeling.

Re: My Hospital Stay

Hope it's nothing too serious @utopia. Apart from that, how's everything else? Accommodation, other people, activities?

Hi beautiful - wow, that is just so horrific and in so many ways likely to tip a person over that highly precarious edge. Gotta just love public health and their fanastasicm about electronic records. All rules and privacy legislation cannot prevent a "sneak view" as desired. You are so right - everything get's discussed, with everyone, they make up horribly demeaning diagnostic labels and that stays in the medical record forever. I have reviewed (only for people I am working with) records with up to 7 different diagnosis just being regurgitated without question. There is no possibility that this can be correct as they are often completely incompatible. It just gets worse, a person may have been traumatised and distressed in public health and then the real gems are added, non-compliant, attention seeking, malingering, aggressive and the labels just go on - again never ever questioned.

I got my own label - shared very widely because I dared to complain of bullying 4 years ago, 6 other people were going through the same. This resulted in intrusive monitoring, and.........because my label tells them I cannot be sufficiently professional, allegations and accusations. Superb management in self butt covering. It is simply a fantastic system - established to destroy staff with a mind and displaying any degree of assertiveness.

Such a constrast though - all of my client work is known to be exceptional.

It is simply disgusting how MH information can be used. I cried over an exceptionalclient client incident and therefore I was completely insane and needed to see an IME according to management.Yes I cried then wrote a report that ensured the client finally received treatment after 10 attempts to attain help and what is clearly negligence on the part of the public hospital Nothing to do with a workcover claim at that stage.

I have just decided that I would rather die than go any where near my workplace.

Your own condition and the stressors of whatyou are going through are so much a part of having a plan, many of us do. If you have integrity you try for help about how bad you are feeling, however the results of so called supports such as CaTT and police intervention are the punishment. I wonder if the system is actually designed to actually make us do it.

I so admire you, your courage and your assertiveness, please be kind to you.

Lotsa luv and hugs Bastless

Pain in chest and left arm today. Think it's psychosomatic and anxiety.
Change of medication - starting tonight. They've taken me off an anti psychotic - that I use for anxiety. And they've replaced it with a different anxiety med.
And tomorrow my anti depressant - that's just been increased - will be decreased again. Then next week another egc to see if the med change and reduction make a difference to mypulse and heart rhythm. Just wait and see.
slept through the worst pain / anxiety this afternoon.
My depression is heaps better. Anxiety needs work.
Went to AA Meeting at the hospital - which waa a good way to wind down the day.
Off to bed now.

Hi Hon

Glad to hear that your depressive symptoms are improving and your bravery continues to shine. Utterly scary stuff to have experienced chest and arm pain. Although your insight is clearly evolving so fast - it will be beneficial, i do recall this. I do feel for you and fully empathise with the medication changes and adverse reactions, titration down can be so incredibly hard. At least you are in a safe place where you can be adequately supported - I hope.

Today I went through the panic thing simply due to a phone contact from psychologist, I know intellectually this is absurd. I completely go into overdrive with phone calls, anxiety becomes terror and fear and then the panic sets in, then it gets even more gorgeous - tearfulness goes on rampage. i have now received the IME report that has led to the workcover claim approval from psychologist. The insurer, after repeated requests, finally allowed my access to the report.

Today I went to visit Odin in his room Twice. Odin was increasingly receptive to head butt kisses, a little play and pats. I now realise that although Odin is actually a very large Bengal he has never been allowed to develop from being a kitten. Now I have the essence there is much hope for Odin. I am certain he has spent a lot of his life locked in a room alone, never been encouraged to play and has had repeated behavioural maltreatment. We are now working as a team regarding the biting and scratching. The method is simple behavioural therapy - biting and scratching are responded to with a firm NO, withdrawal of pats and a hand/finger upright. Once the moment has resolved Odin again receives positive attention. One step at a time, although I am so relieved that he has improved already.

Today has been another bad one, although it has helped to spend thoughtful time with Odin and I subsequently managed enough to clear my poor thinking sufficiently to write 3 necessary client reports. Bed time is now warranted as I get so exhausted.

Utopia and all

Please be kind to you
