1st appointment with psychiatrist - what to expect?
Hi guys. I'm new here. I've only been diagnosed (well I'm not even really sure about that because not quite sure what the diagnosis is?!) a few weeks ago and started on meds. I went back to my GP today who has now referred me to a psychiatrist because she hasn't come across my symptoms before. I have never been to a psychiatrist and I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up about what to expect? Any tips on how to prepare myself? I'm kind of nervous because I'm a nurse myself so I'm feeling very vulnerable as the patient for a change. Thanks in advance x

I have to get out of the house for 3 hours today while the cleaner is here so I might take one of those books (I actually have the first one, The Enchanted Wood) down to the lake and alternate between reading that and staring at the clouds @outlander. What are your plans today?

Hey @outlander I went down to the lake but I didn't read my book, I just have no concentration for reading at the moment. I just sat and ate an Acai bowl which was yum. No clouds in the sky today either! Sounds like you had a good day, I'm so glad, are you feeling good?

yeah it was a good day for once, but theres soemthing creeping inside me- that constant darkness it always comes back, it never stays away for long and the dread comes back. its a very strange feeling like im ok but its over ridden by that fear all the time

@outlander I'm quite familiar with the darkness that always looms. At least we have some moments without it. I hope that now you have your horse you have more moments without the darkness, more light in your life xx
