suicide trigger warning

suicide trigger warning

My catalyst ... my grand daughter completed suicide. She was 16. I had met her maybe 4 times. I did not get notified of the funeral. I did get an invitation to the memorial but I didnt open it. I thought is was something else. It was a facebook invitation/pm. I missed the memorial. My beautiful grand daughter, not thiers.

There is.so.much.guilt. So.much.....

@birthmother

I suggest you contact Standby Response Services. They do have offices throughout Australia and as a Commonwealth funded program is a free service. They offer both in person and phone assistance for people bereaved and grieving as a result of suicide.

You'll find the information on their website appropriate for your location. Do give them a call. I have used this service and found them extremely helpful. They are available 24/7.

Re: suicide trigger warning

Thanks for the welcome. It is not a place I thought I would visit 😞 I daresay the GP app I have will go quickly. She will fill in the paperwork and usher me out of my 10 minute appointment. and thats ok. I hope I have chosen wisely with a psychologist. The one I would ideally like is " not taking on new patients " so I will take on her offsider and see how it develops.

Hi there @birthmother

It can helpful to find a Psychologist who has experience with those symptoms and asking them some more about their treatment, you can search for one using the APS website or even calling them, if that helps?

That was really interesting and helpful. I also learned how to put it on my phone to listen to in bed. sigh... yes I am past grief. I can recognise it for what it is.

Re: suicide trigger warning

Thanks Lunar. I have a gp appointment this morning ( why am I nervous ?) and will be putting a MH plan into action. I have googled for local Psychologists and will see where it takes me.

I listened.. no one can address the issue of unresolved grief. The grief mothers ( and adoptees ) have when the person they are giving is not dead. All my research concluded unresolved grief actually increases with time.
