Hi @oceangirl @Owlunar @utopia @Zoe7 @Former-Member

My 'inner child' has been appearing a lot lately. It feels like i am two people. one my 'inner child' and the other 'me now as an adult'.

i feel that when i am so negative, emotinal and not right a big part of that is my 'inner child'.

my inner child cries a lot; is scared and is very vulnerable. she seeks calmess at the beach, in the garden or on her own under her doona. And i remember that when i was 15 yrs old that's what i would do.

even sleeping, i notice that i hug myself so tight, like i am protecting myself from danger. It is so weird.

my inner child is so hurt like when you break a toy. it feels like my heart is ripped into bits.

@oceangirlhow do you cope with your 'inner child' ?

how do others cope with their 'inner child'. all i know is that i struggle a lot

Re: Inner child

hi @BlueBay

umm i dont know if this sounds stupid but ill tell you anyway... have you considered that hen you feel like the inner child is coming out to actually embrace it and do the things you always wanted to do as a young child? if you want a lollipop have one... if you want to jump on a bouncy castle do so... if you want to fly a kite do so.. if you want to spend the day at the mall trying on clithes then do it...?

or going to the beach or doing something in the garden to help embrace that inner child?

hopefully that makes sense and doesnt sound too stupid but the thoughts out now..

Hey @Former-Member it's not stupid it makes sense but sometimes when I colour in my book I enjoy and feel calm.
I feel like a child s lot lately. Even when angry I think i need to throw a tantrum.

Re: Inner child

@BlueBay @oceangirl @outlander, I realise it's ages since the original post but my psychologist and I have recently been working around the ages and stages of my inner child to help me heal from childhood trauma. Sometimes all the young Natalies are quite loud and boisterous, and they jump up and down alot..depending on how they feel and when expressing ther needs, like when they wanted a dog (which they got, it was the adult Natalie who was holding back because she didn't want to love something so passionately and lose it), or when they want attention...and other times they are quiet and solemn, and sit back waiting to see what's going to happen, like if the adult Natalie is having a bad day or is tired or depressed, or when they are s...t scared of a particular situation, especially if she drinks too much. I've found talking and walking with the young Natalies has been very powerful and emotional. It's not just the adult Natalie I need to take care of but all the young Natalies, as they are only kids and never had nuturing relationships.
