Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Now we have unicorn socks/slippers (or one unicorn sock/slipper and the challenge of making it a pair) with a dancing prancing little person happy with the size 😁🦄💗

Re: Craft Corner

OOH, awesome @CheerBear waiting on image clearance.

New things that have been especially made for one are so so special. I'm smiling just thinking about the dancing prancing one unicorn-sock-footed little one.

Re: Craft Corner

OH wow, that is really special @CheerBear

Goodness how totally pretty and cool and just awesome! Ummm outstanding work, and outstanding use of unicorn yarn too. Can't stop smiling at them and the vision of little dancing feet in them.

I hope you're keeping some sort of record of these things you make for the littles so that in time they can look back and remember how much you cared/ did for them.

Puts me in mind of a movie book I read, The Sewing Machine. The lady and her daughter sewed many things and would keep a tiny swatch of the fabric and thread sewn onto a wee booklet kept of every item made, who it was for and how much it cost and was paid (iirc). Lovely story.

I can image you in a pair of these @outlander.

Re: Craft Corner

they really are delightful. I do know what you mean @outlander, I'm like that with lots of things, which is totatlly silly - can't use the last bit of something I love (but will keep, not perish) because then it will be gone.

I can delay gratification for ever!

Re: Craft Corner

no its not silly @Former-Member my nan done the same thing. she still had some of her favourite pieces of wrapping paper put away jsut in case she didnt find them again. its not silly at all

Re: Craft Corner

Thank you @Former-Member - you're so encouraging! I didn't use unicorn yarn as it was too chunky which is why it didn't fit I think. You reminded me of the two strands of yarn trick the other day/week with your finger knitting (I think it was that). So the colours are all one white strand and one rainbow (leftover fuzzball hedgehog yarn), white or grey. It worked really well!

Love love love the idea of a little swatch as a keepsake. I have lots of of photos of the things created. The little people do really enjoy and appreciate them 😊

I was hoping my scheepjes order would be in but that was wishful thinking so I'll practice some more patience. Have you started your green edges today?

@outlander - soooo many times I have wished I could make and send things to forum people! If I could I definitely would! My one footed dancing prancing one thanks you for the unicorn inspiration (these will be way cooler than unicorn yarn ones they think)😁😊

Re: Craft Corner

Re: Craft Corner

Save away @outlander (thank you for asking though). I'm pretty careful about what I put up here either pulling them down or making sure the only appearance they'll make anywhere online is here ☺

My next project for me will be the blanket made from the yarn I'm waiting. These littler projects are while I'm waiting for that. Apparently dragon socks are next on the 'mum I'd like' list 🤔😁
