Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Good morning crafty people

@Former-Member a very exciting email arrived in my inbox today. So far so good.

Not too long ago I learned that overseas orders are shipped by plane (the word 'shipped' had me thinking that things were sent by boat - serious face palm! 😆). It won't be too long now hopefully.

I am about to head off to do some annoying and not-at-all fun things which means I'll probably find myself sitting in a beanbag with my trusty hook and yarn later tonight to feel better. I see unicorn yarn socks being started 😊

Hope the day goes ok enough for all ☺

Re: Craft Corner

Good Morning Craft Corner - I'm up way, way early no sleep for me, but many house chores have been done, so there's one plus.

Oh, seriously cool @CheerBear. Things may well be fine with their shipping or even planing, to Australia then, and that would be simply awesomely super! I did smile at your face palm, but yeah, I have those moments too - words and meanings of.

I'd heard even Canada was having problems, and that gave me pause indeed. I recently learned that Australia and the UK have some seriously good postal reciprocal agreements of some sort that means we get better postage rates from there to us than we do within our own country. Other countries do not have that arrangement with the UK.

I have found some stash yarns that may well do the job - have to look up Sophie's Universe again - hey, maybe I should print off the pattern too - and see how much of what and what size gets me to where so I can redesign some of it to make the mandala vest from it.

@outlander Yes, you can tag me to the other post if you would, I'll get there faster that way.

Re: Craft Corner

Aha, the image, I just saw the image - hehe, yes indeed so very cool. @CheerBear

Just getting through the day here today.

Have tests tonight for the apnoea which scares me greatly, shall I politely say. Other stress related issue has flared and then the other stuff, which I'd settled mostly from, just got re triggered by a notification for a message that should not have happened. Honestly.

I can't get my head around the numbers and colours yet for Sophie's Choice Universe (well, that's the stress showing isn't it! ) , and I cant' find an easy print out of the pattern - do you know where it hides CheerBear? It's probably just the stress stopping me from finding it.

Made the order for the new tatting shuttles and hankies, which should be here maybe this week if she express posts and all goes well.

HOpe all is well with others in the Corner.

Re: Craft Corner

I was just heading over here to say hi and oh my gosh that mandala vest is ah-mazing @Former-Member! I love the colours. Stunning!

The pattern for Sophie, from memory is week by week. If you scroll down about 1/3 of the way under the heading "Sophie's Universe Timeline" you'll see each week. This page here http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/sophies-universe-cal-2015/sophies-universe-cal-2015-information/ (no hyperlink as I'm not on desktop mode sorry). When you're in the week, if you scroll down just under the signature (the one that says "Dedri xxx") you will see a print friendly icon where you can download as PDF and/or print. I thought there may be a basic written pattern without photos, but I haven't come across it yet. Sorry if that's more info than you need or stuff you already knew. I'll keep my eye out for a plain written pattern ☺

Sorry to hear you're having a hard day. I can imagine the tests would be scary and that the triggering makes things hard (that one I experience myself often). I hope it goes as well as it can tonight and that you will be able to find some peace soon.

I had quite a big morning and am now sitting under a lemon tree, with music and my blanket, outside a verrrrry quiet house playing with some unicorn yarn to make socks. It feels good to be outside doing this at the moment, and I am looking forward to sharing the socks here when they're finished.

(So excited you're looking at doing a SunShower version of Sophie - have I mentioned that yet? 😆)

❤
