Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

@Maggie I have really surprised myself the lady that works where we hold it normally did all the organising before the only time she helped me was with our Christmas do she said she was proud of me @Shaz51

Hey Crafters .... I thought this would be the best place to put the callout for help with looking after our animals as a result of the current disastrous bushfires. It is estimated that over 500 million animals have been lost but there are those fortunate ones that have survived and need our help. Their habitat has been lost, their home, their sanctuary, their food source and in so many cases they are injured and need our help.

There are many, many people around Australia sewing, knitting, crocheting pouches, bird nests, slings etc. for the rescued and homeless animals. If you checkout Animal Rescue Craft Guild or Heist Jewellery on Facebook they have all the details of what is needed, patterns and links to drop off points.

If you have spare time, resources and materials please do what you can to help. The animals need our help as they cannot do any of that themselves.
