Craft Corner

Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

Looking forward to hearing from you all 🙂

@Gazza75 that made me smile heaps! Love it. When you said you started on the wrong side, why is that? Is there a right and wrong side?

Hey and thanks for the tags @outlander and @Shaz51 ❤

Re: Craft Corner

It's great to find this thread. I recently dug out my bag of left over wool that had been buried in the back of a cupboard for many years. I have decided to knit squares to make a blanket to give to charity. I have enjoyed picking up the needles again and have currently made about 25 squares - I am told that you need 36 to make a blanket for an adult. The trouble with leftovers is that the colours do not always fit together well. I have tried to narrow it down to about 5 colours and bought a few balls to get them in nearly even numbers. I am enjoying this stage of making some sort of a pattern.

In the last week I've been distracted by the birth of my first grand nephew. I decided to try my hand at knitting a soft toy, a puppy with long floppy ears. It's a long time since I've had to get my head around making and increasing stitches. It's been a bit disappointing to find that the finished puppy is only 12cm tall. However it makes it pretty quick to make.

Welcome @BronH, glad you found the thread and your Wool and. Knitting needles. It's very kind of you to give blanket to charity.. Congrats on grand nephew, that is awesome.

Would love to see some of your knitting if you comfortable sharing it with us. 🙂 🙂

Re: Craft Corner

Sounds like a great accomplishment to us @BronH! Do you have a picture of your finished puppy?

Re: Craft Corner

Most of the pics are protected. This is the only one I could copy. It's Knitables Free Puppy.

Re: Craft Corner

@BronH Welcome. The puppy sounds lovely, as does your blanket. Sometime the thought of getting back into craft is daunting, but once there it becomes enjoyable again.

lovely to see you here.

@Gazza75 Your bee is looking good. You did a little more research than I did, as I didn’t know there was a right and wrong side to start, I always started at the lefthand side. Got that wrong.
