Craft Corner

A place to chat and share all things crafty!

What's your favourite craft? Is there anything you're working on at the moment? What would you like to create/work on (I have heaps of "one day" project patterns and ideas that I know I will probably never get around to, but it's nice to imagine)? I'd love to hear!

I have absolutely no artistic side to me and stick figures are the extent of my drawing ability, but I really enjoy learning and trying out new crafts. I learnt crochet during a stay in a prevention and recovery centre and it's something I pick up often when I am feeling blue, I need a distraction or I'm just a little bored. I've tried paper crafts too, although I didn't really get far with anything. Sharpies are some of my best friends and when I find my hands need to move I have a collection of smooth rocks that I draw on (different coloured circles) which often relaxes me. Sometimes I dust off the sewing machine and sew as well. I walk around spotlight for a fun outing 😉

I like the border too. Its really nice, i think it goes well with what youve done!

Youve been a huge encouragment for me too in my crochetting. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you though 🌈🌈

Hi @CheerBear, @outlander and everyone. I'm at the mental health centre, been here about two and a half hours. I'm finding I slack out a bit on the knitting at home, so have taken to coming here, as a way of getting myself out of the flat, walking, socialising and working on my contribution to the knit bombing project coming up. Thought I'd share a work in progress shot...

Woops, the shot is upside down and taken on my ancient mobile. Heaps more to go. Plus I have discovered this place is a good drop in centre, aside from the scheduled activities I have been going to sporadically for the past few years. Yay! 🙂

@outlander, the colours are out in the photo. It's more pink and less yellow. I am knitting three different colours together: pink, orange and cream.

It looked like orange pink and yellow in the pic @Mazarita but i like that colour combo better. As long as your enjoying it thats all that matters.

What will the finished product be? As in what are you making..

The knitting is for a 'knit bomb' project, @outlander. There are a bunch of mental health people knitting for it. The finished pieces will be wrapped around trees and poles at the big public hospital here, as a kind of art installation. It's all part of a big art and music day for mental health coming up here soon.
