Adventures on Turtle Island

Adventures on Turtle Island

Edit:

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Niqueeta wrote a fabulous prelude to Turtle Island here:

Turtle Island : The Night Before

Spookytookims has written some awesome episodes which can be found here:

The First Morning

Turtle Island episode 2

Turtle Island episode 3 (this one even has pictures!)

Turtle Island episode 4: Shipwreck Salvage

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 1)

Turtle Island: The Lurgi Strikes (part 2)

We now have a welcome sign which is also our Island flag:

And here we are in a message in a bottle on the sand as drawn by Lil-Caterpillar!

Here are some views of our Island - isn't it spectacular?!

Looking forward to bumping in to you!

This is how it all began....

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims I super love the latest episode. I especially love the picture of me shaking in my shell. That made me giggle because on another thread I've been talking about how I rock as a form of self-soothing - so a picture of me rocking was particularly funny.

I can definitely see what you are talking about re. a resemblance between Daisy and Sherry. I will wait with great interest to see how that part of the story evolves!

@CheerBear I super super SUPER love your picture. That is SO cool. Hey...as well as that being our welcome sign, do you think we could also make it the offical flag of Turtle Island???

@Appleblossom It sounds like the idea of "rules" is uncomfortable for you, is that right? I find that really interesting because rules make me feel calm. Somewhere else in Forum Land I've talked about how the word "boundaries" triggers icky feelings in me, whereas the word "rules" makes me feel calm and safe. I have an exercise book (which may possibly be covered in Finding Nemo paper ) that I take with me when I see my psychologist. On the first page it has our rules listed - e.g. I can email once a week, I can leave two voice messages each a max. of three minutes, etc etc. My psychologist wanted to call these "boundaries" because to her, "rules" sounds punitive/authoritarian. However, for me, it is the opposite. For me "boundaries" are punitive. Consequently, my psychologist acquiesced to calling them "rules", but she drew a cute friendly-looking sign with "rules" printed on it, at the top of the page to make herself feel better about them being rules. I find all that really interesting because it seems like such a clear demonstration of how words can take on a positive or negative connotation based on our past experiences.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I was wondering @Spookytookims, @CheerBear, @Phoenix_Rising, @Former-Member, @Appleblossom, could we light a candle or something for our little lost caterpillar. I'm worried about her. Maybe a bon-fire might be better - easier to see from a distance. We could gather around it and remind each other about the great things she did 🙂

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

That's a great idea @Former-Member.

I'm making cosy little nooks in the cave for us all at the moment. Nesting is what I do when I'm feeling stressed or lost, like I'm wondering lil-caterpillar may be feeling now.

I found these amazing candles. Sorry @Spookytookims, I don't think there's any way to explain these other than Island magic.

I've lit them in a quiet little corner of the cave with our friend's name engraved on a plaque I carved, ready for if and when she comes back so she knows she's got a place here.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

I wrote a very considered post about lil-cat situation. But Im being made to rewrite it. I think that means fictionalise it.

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

Hi @Spookytookims,

If a moderator has asked you to reword a post, the reason would not have been to fictionalise your post, but rather to ensure community/forum guidelines are maintained 😉

Re: Adventures on Turtle Island

@Spookytookims when I was asked to edit a post, I found it super helpful to talk it through with Lunar on the phone. Talking it through helped me get my big feelings out.
