Adventures on Turtle Island

Welcome to Turtle Island!

What began as a discussion about personality types based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, quickly found a few of us marooned on an Island in the shape of a turtle (see below), in the South Pacific. We are currently having all kinds of adventures using our MBTI types to work out what might happen. If you're looking for some light-hearted fun, everyone is welcome to come along to stay or just visit. (You can get an idea of your MBTI here if you're interested.) Recently we found a (non-existent) suggestion box on the Island, we think it's come from an elusive island neighbour, so you're welcome to just fly (or swim) past and drop us some suggestions too.

Personality and what makes us us is something I find really interesting and I think there would be a few of us out there who share that interest.

@Spookytookims and I were having a chat about MBTI and the differences in our 'types'. I've found myself pondering what factors in our personalities might influence our interactions and the way a deeper understanding of people may improve communication. I like thinking about what makes two or more people 'click' or not.

While it's difficult to imagine the world being split into a small number of personality 'types', I am interested in what different personality tests offer us in terms of gaining insight or understanding.

Maybe an interesting discussion if anyone wants to join 🙂

- nah, Eternal flame in Olympos Turkey - far more intriguing.

INTP - okay… okay… how can we fix this
- ABSOLUTELY!!: - Fix it and there is no problem.

- yep pretty sure I've thought this if not said it.

INTP - I have 99 problems. 32 of those problems have to do with 67 of my problems making no logical sense. I can solve these problems by…. DID YOU JUST TELL ME TO SHUT UP!?

INTP - they wrote a detailed 3 week schedule. But then Netflix happened

Hahaha of course you analysed all of this @Spookytookims 😂 i kind of figured that might be about the outcome of your analysis.

For me I'm just all oh yeah, i can relate to that. The puppy would be a kitten though. I loved that we're both watching netflix but for different reasons haha.

I can't sleep. I went to bed and instantly all my huge big omg this is all about to go bananas hit me 😒 I'm not sure I'm actually as ok as i am trying to be. I'm fighting a flight response hugely and it's scary because i can't really escape these things. I was thinking about picking up my phone and just blurting it out there/here when your analysis came through so there it is. I thought things were hard before but I have a feeling they're about to get way harder. The housing stuff and c-link stuff are pretty big concerns. Usually by now my medication would have kicked in and it hasn't really helped the last couple of nights which is either anxiety being stronger or needing to go up a little higher, but that needs a psychiatrist and i made a call for an appt over a week ago and i haven't heard anything yet.

There's no fix-this, but being able to go blegh, damn, grrr gets it out of my head maybe.

@CheerBear The housing stuff and C-link stuff are HUGE. No way around that.. and until at least one of those let alone both are resolved, you are more or less in some horrible limbo. A real limbo. That's a terrible place to be and there's no getting around it cos they're the two really biggies in our lives.. money and a place to live. Great help aren't I? but no way to sugar coat that one! Anyone would be very worried in your position, how could they not be? so much for reassurance hey? dammit I'm hopeless.. sorry

No, that's seriously really helpful to hear thank you. They are huge and for some bonkers reason it seems like the few people in my life don't really get that. Or maybe they're sick of my huge issues or feel hopeless too or something. But no-one seems to 'see' that I am really struggling, like suffocating, with this. I think my phams worker does and i hope my fv/housing worker does, but both of them can't do anything either. C-link is too complex. The housing issue is bigger than me and my worker because it's the housing organisation that I'm kind of fup against and they're not listening to my worker either. It helps to know that someone knows these are kind of huge and messy and overwhelming and exhausting things really. Thank you for listening and validating how I'm feeling @Spookytookims. I'm going to put some music on and try and just listen to that to see if it can help my mind be more quiet. I appreciate being able to get that off my chest, thank you

I'm surprised you understood it. I just had to correct some atrocious typos! Lucky you understand typo obviously! @CheerBear I don't know how anyone can't see how incredibly worrying those issues being unkowns and not secure would be. Obviously some people just really aren't "getting it" because I don't see how someone can't "get it" . Ok you go relax.. and try to sleep. I got an email my partner apparently just landed... so he is a little earlier than was expecting as the 1:30 landing time.. so at least now I can rest easy that he has touched down.

@Spookytookims I super super super SUPER love the bags of easter eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turtle Island must be a super special place because everywhere else, the Easter Bunny arrives on Easter Sunday. I know, I know, I just HAD to point this detail out!

@CheerBear I am sorry to hear you are struggling so much at the moment. I hate how "the system" (i.e. housing, CL) makes life so much more complicated than it needs to be.
