Re: Complex PTSD - Depression - Anxiety - ADD - Fibro Myalgia/Chronic Fatigue - How do you "get over it"?

Just came back from a really nice bath with the company of a cat who enjoys water. Feeling really warm and good now. I got a few pages through my catch up and the internet has cracked it at me so I can't really see the last two pages 😕

@Former-Member - I read that you wake up with panic attacks. They're so hard and frustrating, sorry 😞 I don't get them at the moment but I did a while ago and it was awful. The only thing that helped me was to learn some really quick easy grounding techniques to bring myself out of that state. Once I was able to practice doing it for a while I felt a lot less stressed by the idea of them and I think maybe that helped reduce my fear of having them and they didn't happen again for ages, and when they've come back they haven't been anywhere near as frequent as they used to be. It's exhausting when it happens though and wreacks havoc with energy throughout the day. Also sorry to hear your family situation has caused both you and your daughter so much grief. Holidays tend to be so tough with family issues. Maybe now Easter is over it will ease up for a while? I'll happily be your family too by the way! You like cake and coffee, I like cake and coffee - we were practically made for each other haha 😛

@Former-Member - how are you tonight? How was the rest of your day today?

@Former-Member - great to see you looking after yourself and drawing. I'll check the garden thread soon

@Spookytookims - I was ok but not ok today. Super anxious but at least aware of things that I can do to keep it under control which today meant sticking to a manageable list. I tend to do things like, you know, paint a house and stuff (lol) when anxiety gets too much so I spent today focusing on things I could do with it that were within a reasonable limit and would be helpful. One of my struggles is doing too much and I crash and burn and I can see that this next little bit has the potential to send me into panic mode so I have to keep it in check. You have great intuition (not surprised there) and thank you for checking in. I love your excitement and enthusiasm about brainy stuff! I too have a pretty insatiable thirst for knowledge and understanding, although it's almost impossible for me to entertain that while I am in a whirlpool of trauma and crisis. I think the two of us might gain, process and use it in different ways and look for different things, but with some similarities. (I have no ability to take in detail like you and definitely not the interest you have in technical stuff I think). So for my booky talk, I wanted to share a few of my favourite reads from when I was doing a whole heap of work and study for both uni and on myself. You might have read them or may be interested if you haven't. "Sensorimotor Psychotherapy" by Pat Ogden, "Waking the Tiger" by Peter Levine and "The Body Keeps the Score"by Bessel van der Kolk are a couple I remember. Also I loved reading "The Boy Who was Raised as a Dog". I could spend hours and hours reading journal articles and text books before the big storm hit. Anyway, that's all I wanted to say re books. Lol re the pig story. Gotta proper visit turtle island again soon. Oh I haven't linked ep4 - I'll add it to my to-do for tomorrow. How are you feeling tonight?
