My husband can’t accept our daughter’s partner choice

My husband can’t accept our daughter’s partner choice

My husband is finding it difficult to accept our daughter’s choice of partner. She is an adult. The issue is ethnicity and fear of her having to change her religious beliefs.

She has only known her partner for 12 months and this may not eventuate to a lifetime together however this issue has affected my marriage- I’m very conflicted. I don’t know who to support..

Dear @MelissaR ,

Welcome to the forums.

We hear your concerns about your husband's difficulty in your daughter's choice of partner. It is confirmed that your daughter will have to change her religious beliefs?

Also, @MelissaR , we have just sent you an email. Can you please respond at your earliest convenience?

Hi @MelissaR it can be very challenging when a parent is very set in their ways of relating to adult children.

Its also hard for some parents to "let go" and allow adult children make their own choices - good and bad - as they live an independent life.
