Welcome and getting started

my parents have deep favouritism to my brother and sometimes neglect me

my parents have deep favouritism to my brother and sometimes neglect me

my parents have also treated my brother better then me but recently it’s become worst. For context Both of us don’t have our own cars yet so we drive our parents when they are not using it. He drove my dads cars one time and crashed it and didn’t even get told off but since then I always get yelled at when I drive it about how I need to be careful cause I’ll crash it even tho it’s never been me. And recently he popped the tire and dad went and got it fixed without a issue but today when I went to drive it he complained how he just payed so much to get the tire replaced and I’m not allowed to drive it because who knows what will happen. I had to cancel my work shift due to this. I then started saying how it’s so unfair that my brother can do all this and get no consequences but I’m the one who has to deal with it. Another thing is he buys my brother food and not me so most nights I have no dinner and the only reason I have lunch throughout the day is because I do my own supermarket shopping but because I’m on a budget I can’t afford to buy dinner also for myself and because I’d assume my parents will. My mum does nothing she just sits there. Idk what to do and I have no money to move out

Hi @aVa1766 that sounds very tough. Perhaps have a chat to Relationships Australia https://www.relationships.org.au

Hey there @aVa1766 ,

Hearing you. It must feel terrible to experience this all the time and knowing you are treated differently can really rupture relationships.

Have you ever opened up to your parents about how you feel? I wonder if they don't even realise they are doing it and how it is impacting you?
