Doctors appointment

Doctors appointment

I had my doctor's appointment today talk about results from last blood work, thinking back now over the last couple of appointments with her she has been super short in her speech with me I don't know if it was my attitude mouth that's upset her or I don't know what is the issue or maybe I do & won't accept responsibility. I feel if I have an appointment with her she will be cranky as I've wasted her time and she gets paid by my Medicare & concession card just to find out why she's upset, thinking of going to another dr @ the centre any helpful thoughts

Hey @Spitfire1

I guess it's about what works for you. If you feel comfortable to continue with this doc, why not? However, if you want to see what other doctors are like, that's also okay.

It must be uncomfortable to be sitting with wondering why she's been short with you?

Hi @Spitfire1

Was your GP like this before you did the blood tests or after? They probably want you to make a few changes which doesn't happen overnight. It's hard to make changes when you have mental health issues. Let me guess she wants you to bring down your cholesterol by reducing fat and also bring down the sugar by eating less sugary foods and carbs. She wants you to increase your protein and veggie intake. It can be done just not quickly. I am yet to find a bulk billed gp that is supportive and suggests how to do these things gradually. If people were less stressed and had more support and sometimes money they would eat the better stuff. I would like to cook healthier meals but most of the time I just don't have the energy.

Re: Doctors appointment

@Spitfire1 My doctor is always cranky but I thought if she runs tests and takes my health seriously then that is ok. I dont let her attitude bother me. There is a personality clash between us in the past but I go there for what I need done and I treat it as a service and nothing more. It would be nice to have a good fit but I reason you cant be compatible with everyone. It may not just be about you, your GP could be illmannered to lots of people I saw this on the google reviews for my clinic. They dont particularly like their jobs its just a matter ticking a box with diagnostics. Imagine doing that day in and day out asking for symptoms then finding plausible causes. Its why many doctors go into functional medicine because being a GP can be soul destroying for many doctors. That is what I've heard from the medical profession. I've read other reviews about my GP and she is shorttempered and judgemental with many people. Probably had enough lol

Re: Doctors appointment

Yes it feels very uncomfortable I keep forgetting with dr.s appointments nowadays general consult 1 problem at a time when I go in there therefore if Ive 2 issues I babble each one out before she has a chance to review first one therefore miss cranky pants shows up, I become frazzled when she demands questions from me should remember 1 question for 1 general consult or go to another GP @ the practice I'll think about it.

Have a happy day day everyone

Hi@Spitfire1

There's no need for it you are an adult not a child. She doesn't need to be cranky with you. I mean if this affects your mental health over and over again it's probably a good idea to see someone else. Ask the receptionist if she can recommend someone else or another medical centre for mental health.

Re: Doctors appointment

I don't go to see her for mental health problems as she knows nothing about it, she always refers me back to my therapist when I ask about mental health questions. I'm still on the journey of setting up through my laptop my microphone & speakers for my online meetings I think I've done it correctly but don't want to make another appointment online to find out that it's not working correctly I'm not tech savvy
