Therapy

Therapy

hi

I have been seeing my psychologist for over a year now. It has been great for the most part. However, lately I get a sense of them being authoritarian. She will say" you go to that support group, aren't you?" or "are you still taking your anti-depressant". It feels forceful.I know they care but the way it comes across has started to make me feel uncomfortable. Then I have wondered wether that is exactly what I need? otherwise I risk not staying on track.

Re: Therapy

I wonder if it's about finding what works for you? Have you had a discussion with your therapist about it? While being more 'authoritarian' may work for some, I'm hearing that it brings up some unease for you? @sunrises

Re: Therapy

@sunrises I think she has your best interests at heart with the question about taking your antidepressants.

Some people either miss doses or just stop, and for some people and some medications either can cause serious withdrawal effects that can be mistaken for relapse. (Stopping requires very slow tapering in conjunction with your prescriber).

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am going to speak to the therapist and one way or the other I will work out what is best for me.
