Downwards bipolar crash

Downwards bipolar crash

I'm on the downward bipolar crash after having of being manic for 4-5 weeks...... it's so far a terrible crash and I can barely function.

I know I'll probably be manic later (mixed episode) but omg this is hell

I hate it that you can feel it happening but can't stop it.

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

Hi @Ayesha, I have bipolar too but also know it can be a very different experience from person to person. Is this that you are going through now your familiar pattern, or do you think things are getting more out of hand than usual? Wondering about what real life supports you might have in place. When you say you can barely function, I relate, at least to some extent, as I have struggled all my adult life with caring for myself with food and domestic tasks. Also spent a lot of depressed time withdrawn and unable to leave the flat. Are any of these experiences I have had any part of what you are experiencing now? Even if none of what I've said is meaningful to your current feelings, I can sit with you and chat for a while if you like.

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

I am ..... I am ...... totally detached and numb but thinking a thousand things at once.

Every single thing makes me want to scream and rant and rave but I remain collapsed

I am heavily medicated today hence can barely function but it's also partly because I'm crashing crashing crashing

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

I am being admitted to a private psychiatric hospital early next week and I am so desperate ..... I just have to hold on until then

I am in incredible physical pain today as well (chronic condition) and that makes me want to cry and sob and scream as well

My hallucinations are coming in thick and fast and the line of distinction is being blurred

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

@Ayesha, feeling for you going through this. Do you have someone you can contact if things get beyond what you can handle? Are you able to take some deep breaths, if possible, to slow your breathing down? I know this might not be possible right now but it can be worth a try. Anything at all that can slow down your mind would be worth trying if you are able to...

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

@Ayesha, it might sound like an odd thing to suggest, but if you can get to sleep for a while that could help too. I often find sleep rebalances me a bit when I'm feeling out of kilter. Just another thought...

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

A sleep sounds great but even the thought of that seems like too much effort and also not really an option due to my pain.....sounds brillant though......

im trying to busy myself and im just about to type up a "to pack" hospital list.

Re: Downwards bipolar crash

@Ayesha, totally get why it might be hard to sleep right now. Great thing to be doing, focussing on typing up a packing list for hospital. I've had a lot of pain from a chronic health problem too over the years (crohns disease). Pain can exacerbate our mental health issues too. They feed off each other in lots of ways, I think. Sounds like you might have already taken some pain relief as you mentioned being medicated. Hope you get some relief from that soon.
