An Update after much time
Hey forumites it's been a while since I did a long form post on here.
Just a few things to update on and share
Marriage is no different to life before marriage. The only difference is a development and blossoming of the connection we already had. Some people joke about how your life changes and you go through the honeymoon phase. Well we never really had a honeymoon phase because it has felt like we were always going to meet. Time and luck did me very well on that front.
Coming to Queensland has allowed my mind to get space. For a couple of days there it was a bit rough because my sleep was terrible because the bed is woeful. But I think out of sheer exhaustion and mental tiredness I have managed to come through it now. I slept v well last night. I took some magnesium too which was probably what helped the most. My mind was in overdrive before coming here. Needed this break BADLY. and still have a few days left. An ocean swim each morning has been ideal for that.
I've been reminded just yesterday how good it's been to get back into music this year. Currently I'm obsessed with a small snippet from one of songs the composer John Barry wrote years ago but never was in any film. The snippet itself is very reminiscient of his style in many of the soy thrillers wlhe worked on in the 60s-80s. It can't be a minute or so but it carries such a richness and depth with leitmotif that reminds me of James Bond (which is what he composed too). His music has been somewhat of a therapy for me lately and ultimately I'm glad for it but being being able to appreciate it from a ln instrumentalists perspective gives so much richness to it. Music is great. And it's been a great way to get back at the music teacher who was a total A Hole to me in school.
The family dynamic has changed and after 4 years of not living at home I see things from an outsiders perspective. This is especially the case regarding my sister's medical conditions and situation which to be fair to her have inhibited her a bit in life, but it's also not a foregone conclusion. She is definitely capable of much more and she knows that but she isn't adapting and she needs to be pushed. To think this is not to underestimate the conditions she faces. But it is to say that she is capable and she is preventing herself from doing that - likely because she is realizing that she needs to grow up but she doesn't want to. Mum and dad are now getting too old and mum is partly to blame for my sister's situation at the moment because she wasn't tough where she needed to be. But this is something she is starting to realize too. I guess my role as older sibling is changing from the glass child to the older counsellor.
Work is work. What was once a fear inducing topic fast became the bedrock of my existence in my early 2os and now at 33 I don't care. I think this shows growth and maturity in my soul. The corporate games and newspeak are done for me. I don't care for it. What I am capable of and what I can contribute to the world extend far far beyond what I am capable of giving to the world. Hey perhaps music is just a small chunk of that?
My health needs a bit of a kick. Not that I eat unhealthy food, but just that I enjoy eating it and it's a good activity to do. Creating meals and flavour combos is great fun. I just need to balance it with exercise. I used to body shame myself into health but now that I'm married I have 0 need for it. But the health effects are the chief reason why I must get in top of my health and fitness. It can be done. I lost 5 kgs this year and I put it in again. No big deal. Can be done again.
Today it's warm and cloudy. Kinda humid and kinda cold. It's the seasonal change I suppose isn't it?
I'll close out there and simply quote Jack Frost who said "In all my learnings of life, it can be summed up in 3 words - It Goes On"
And so with that, I Go On
