Hi, I am so sad to hear that your grandfather has recently passed. Also, the uncertainty around your career can also feel like a loss. I know your family (especially Mum) are just pleased to have you with them right now. You contribute in other ways at the moment and in years to come there will be other opportunities to help financially. I myself have had many job terminations and changes in careers and even two different degrees- after a time those jobs will be a humorous reminder that you listened to yourself and left places which were not for you so that you can find all that is meant for you and not waste too much time on what is just fleeting. You are a work in progress, and I know it is such a cliche but take some time to breathe and enjoy the journey. Eventually debts get paid and you might find many different careers over a lifetime or land on just one. Be kind to yourself and allow space to explore- you are doing the best you can with the knowledge you have right now- you sound like you already know that people like your family, friends are what enriches you and the fact that you care so much about helping Mum sounds like you have the most beautiful values and she must be very proud of that! Keep open and even though it is challenging you will find things you love or are curious about and somewhere find ways to make money too.

Hi@cherry01

Sorry to hear that things are difficult at the moment. Sometimes things just don't work out. Something can look good on paper but in reality it's not what it appears to be. Nobody warns young people and students about things. Universities just take your money and I honestly believe unis are over rated. I too have a high hecs debt. Don't worry about this too much as soon as you get work it will come out of the wage and it will get payed slowly. Very sorry for the loss of your grandfather, losing someone is difficult and takes time to process. I would still apply for positions. Do you have to declare that you were fired? In other words are you obligated by law to declare that? If not don't put it in your application. I don't know if you have seen this

I understand you feel guilty about ur mum working hard and you feel like you are letting her down. You didn't do this intentionally and it's not your fault that your employers didn't bother to train you or give you a chance. I think universities are money making factories and don't really give a hoot about students. I also found this that might be useful https://www.reddit.com/r/auslaw/comments/1v4xl8t/i_have_been_considering_for_a_while_changing_and/

Hey

I recently gave some advice to uni students. I told them that having a degree in something didn't mean you HAD to pursue it. These days jobs are a dime a dozen and there are more jobs out there in general. Many end up doing a job totally different to their studies. I think this is the norm.

Keep trying with law. Law is v competitive and I used to work in a court house and could see the pressure. You're not a failure you're just in a rough patch and it happens to all of us.
