Long distance cheating

Long distance cheating

I will keep it short but need help fixing this issue. I don’t want to leave I love him but don’t k ow what to do…. As the heading says I have been in a long distance relationship for 2 1/2 years. She has cheated on my twice but the second time hurts more….. what the issue is, she is still around…. As she is a friend of his sister and his sister babysits her daughter….. he told me it happened because he had needs and didn’t mean anything…. I told him that having her around make me uncomfortable and he said he didn’t want to make enemies out of her and she is going to be around and when I told him I knew he was still friends with her on all his social media he was just quite…. She has invited him to take her daughter to a block party (he told me and I bet she would of been there) and after he told me this his disappeared for 1 1/2 (we where in a Xbox party) and when he came back told me that he help he collected her daughter. How do I tell him that he need to at lest take her off social media without break up the relationship

Hi@Raven10

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. You can't change someone's behaviour and choices. This person doesn't respect you and will continue to hurt you down the line. It is your choice I don't think you can fix this. I think even if you were with this person and not in a long distance relationship they would continue to hurt you. I don't think they are committed to you. No matter what they say they are still hurting you. I would call it off but that's me.

Re: Long distance cheating

Hi @Raven10 , welcome to the Forums

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like there’s a lot of hurt and uncertainty. I can understand why their ongoing contact and the situation with social media would leave you feeling uncomfortable and unsure about where you stand.

While you can’t control what your partner chooses to do, you can think about what you need to feel respected and secure in the relationship and what boundaries feel important to you. It may be helpful to have an open conversation with him about how this is affecting you and what you need from him moving forward

You might also find it helpful to talk things through with a counsellor or a relationship support service such as Relationships Australia: https://www.relationships.org.au/

Sane also offers free 1:1 support through our Recovery Club: https://www.sane.org/recovery-club
