Something’s not right

anxiety

anxiety

hey,

im so frustrated at myself. anxiety and panic keep getting in the way of my life at times and it makes me feel really down. for example: i was going to go for a walk somewhere today and as i was driving i feel anxiety and panic start to creep in and i kept driving but then my mind was screaming saying “you’re going by yourself, you might have a heart attack and die” etc and i turned around and came home. i panicked the whole way back but once i turned into my street i was fine again (for the most part). i just don’t know anymore. i then beat myself up for it. i’m on medication and have done numerous therapies. what advice do you have?

Hi @cocoloco1

Anxiety and panic suck.I know cos I suffer from it too but mine comes from Cptsd in my case. What therapies have you had for it? Sometimes health professionals can misdiagnose.I get very similar thoughts and they are horrible but you get them because your body is protecting you from danger. It has learnt over a long period of time that you are unsafe.

Hi @cocoloco1

Yep trauma will do it. Since anxiety and fear are most likely your protectors. Probably an intrusive thought, it's the panic that's the tough one. Thinking that your going to have a panic attack is horrible. My psychologist assures me that if I do the breath work then I can't get one. I recommend this app it's called unpanic https://unpanic.app/

I don't know if you have been shown a quick way to calm yourself through breath work. It's portable and you can use it anywhere especially when driving or whenever you feel unsafe. It's called the psychological sigh.

Hey mate. Maybe use a breathing technique whilst driving or before getting behind the wheel. @cocoloco1
