Carers under 30...

Carers under 30...

Hi everyone.
Im just wondering if theres any young carers on here?
Im 20 and would love to have people around this age bracket to talk to.

@outlander gather you are finding the extra thinking time leads to increased anxiety or rumination.

In times of transition/waiting our emotions go out of whack and we naturally can become prickly, touchy, reactive etc. So not surprised there have been words. Being aware of this can help us watch how we respond to things.

that is true @Former-Member
its hard when you cant share whats happening to anyone either. some family know that ill be having the op. but i cant really talk to them about it even though its something thats not mental health related. so it really does all just sit there while im sorting myself out. I started doing bits and cleaning so that the house is getting back in shape after xmas but im struggling to do that. i think im making more mess than im able to clean as im tiring and loosing motivation really quickly too. im aiming for the kitchen, dining room and lounge room to be done tomorrow while im waiting on someone to pick up an item and one of my deliveries to come as well. If i can manage it ill get my room done as well. Im awaiting new bedding for pops room so i can do that one yet and the backyards a mess but i cant do much about that either until i do another tip run with the things that are in the trailor as well. seems theres much to do but not alot i feel like doing either.

Fatigue is also part of the sequence @outlander. Important not to beat yourself up about this. .

Would you feel comfortable sharing with a peer worker or a worker though a MH support service like Wellways?

My anxiety makea it hard to sit atill though even though im fatigued @Former-Member i managed some crochetting though tonight while watching some tv. I have a psych that i can see again in feb but have to manage myself until then. I have used helplines previously but for a while i find i just get thr generic script sort of reaponses so i havent been using them much.

Is motivation lacking for everything or just the boring stuff like housework @outlander?

Hope you are able to tackle what you need to today.

Some people find it easier to do in short bursts - split it into smaller jobs.

its pretty much for everything @Former-Member mostly the cleaning at the moment but anything really including going to watch the early nye fireworks. i just want to stay home and do nothing but i get bored too so i need to do something.

@outlander

Can you set a mini goal in relation to the cleaning (ie dishes, pick up etc) to have done before morning tea, but don't tell me what it is until you have done it 😀. If you're up to the challenge, I'll join you and do the same.

Doesn't matter how big or how small but needs to be something in relation to clean up.
