More of a inexperienced at romance advice thing

More of a inexperienced at romance advice thing

My brains finally taking a break from the sad stuff and has moved onto the other half of my life aka my partner. My partner and I haven’t known eachother for years or anything but we’ve become quite close fairly quickly! We’re almost at the three month mark and have had the healthiest communication and general love that I’ve ever experienced. He has a lot of challenges like I do in life, with the main one I’ve noticed being abandonment issues. Whilst I reassure and everything I can possibly do from the other side of the world, in the future I will be visiting/moving to be with him and I’m considering getting him a promise ring / us couple rings. I’ve already looked at designs and the expense isn’t an issue for me! Since it’ll be around a year into our relationship before I’m able to give it to him, is it something anyone may think will help him mentally? To give him something to physically remind him I’m not going anywhere. I also just want rings because we both like wearing them.

So questions I’d love opinions on:

Would it be possible to get a severely negative reaction from this?

How would I casually bring up ring sizes/ measure without him knowing from a long distance standpoint?

Would it be too soon / too late to give it to him around this time next year when I go over there?

Do men like this kind of thing or would it make him insecure about his masculinity (he has some form of issues with it)?

I truly love him and want nothing more than to make him happy and feel my love for him, so Ofc I’d never want to make him feel uncomfortable about it all.

This is the first relationship I’ve ever had where I’ve considered a future with my partner and I don’t want to mess this up but also don’t have anyone to ask about this stuff TvT

Thankyou!

Hi @SunWolfMoon

Nice to hear that you are happy. I've been a long time with my partner so I'll give you some advice. It can take a really long time to truly get to know someone . I personally wouldn't rush into things Things will workout regardless of whether you get them a promise ring or not. It sounds like your bf could be insecure which is understandable a lot of us have insecurity issues and abandonment issues from childhood. Just keep in the back of your mind that they could be trying to pressure you into a relationship and sometimes that can be a red flag. I would get them a teddy bear with a message written on a note. Another thing if they are insecure they need to work on that because it will cause issues in your relationship. Not to sound sexist but let them do the work let them come to see you and they get the promise rings. This is to ensure you are not been played around or been taken for granted.

Your greatest gift will be communication between you. A relationship is based on communication. It is even more important in a long distance relationship.

Take your time in truly getting to know this person before making any commitment but still have fun.

Re: More of a inexperienced at romance advice thing

Hi @Misty7 Thankyou for your interest in my post! And Thankyou for the advice!

I would like to assure you that I’m not being pressured into my relationship. I asked him out because of how nice it is to have him around and how he gives me butterflies just from talking to me! He is super sweet and probably as nerveous as I am! By the time I’d even plan to get the rings we’d be over a year into our relationship (I’m just dreaming and planning ahead because It gives me hope for the future I never thought I’d have). He’s not really a plushie person but I do like the message part! Maybe i should write him some letters instead?

My partner has just started to make the first steps to get better, I’m only a few steps ahead of him in my own recovery so I can see the point where he’s at since I’ve past it. I’m really proud of him for trying and I think meeting me and having someone who really cares for him is helping him get help! He also struggles with an ED but ever since we started planning my trip to come see him (finally!) he’s started to look after himself a bit better so step by step I know he’ll get there.

Since I don’t have a lot of experience in actual relationships or with partners who have abandonment issues, I came to ask someone who may know so Thankyou for giving me that advice I will keep it close while I plan out everything!

(Also we are both men pst pst)

Tysm for your concern and advice I really appreciate it! — @SunWolfMoon
