Schitzo effective disorder

I have schitzo effective disorder depressive type and am struggling with going out and being around people.My family live far away and I miss them.I try to see my grandchildren every 3 months and I look forward to those visits so much.I have no trouble seeing my family when I can but when it comes to people outside of my family I lock myself away and stay inside.My medication helps me function to do things around my unit.Thank you everybody for listening.

Hi @blueorchid77, that sounds so very hard to be in those circumstances. It's very wise you reached out to this forum - there are others with similar lived experience who will hopefully contribute support in this thread.

Are you comfortable with online support groups? MHFA has one for depression https://supportgroup.mhfa.org.au/depression-support-group

Are you a voice hearer? If so, there are multiple peer support site available to support that aspect of your experience.
