Re: Accepting help from extended family?

@Former-Member. Fantastic that you went socialising and maybe (fingers crossed) have met a good friend. It is hard enough as we get older, to make meaningful friendships. So I'm so pleased to hear you are putting yourself out there.
Instead of winning lotto - wouldn't it be great if the government upped all our pensions by $50 a week. I'm a dreamer. I know.
Keep doing what you're doing to stay well. It sounds like it makes a big difference for you.
All the best. ♥♥

Re: Accepting help from extended family?

That really sucks @Former-Member, and my first thought is to ask whether you have support from anyone in dealing with this ? Is there someone else who can do that monitoring of your pet for you ?

Are you able to call your counsellor and tell them how this is impacting you ?

Here to listen to you and walk along with you ....

Hugs ..... 💜💕😔

Re: Accepting help from extended family?

@Former-Member I'm sorry you are going through this onyour own. Do you have a ffriend or support worker who can help you.
I understand your frustration in not being heard by this vet. My mum has gone through this twice. Her last two King Charles Cavaliers both had heart problems (it's a common problem with this breed). Mum doesn't have much money. The first dog was fortnightly vet trips (when the dog was 'well')- to have the fluid removed from the dog. Lots of daily tablets and monitoring. Then the second dog went thru the same. Mum tried to tell the vet - she couldn't afford this treatment or put another dog through this. They didn't listen. They kept changing the medications. In the end - I went with mum to the vet - durings it's 3rd seizure in a week (a side effect of the massive doses of meds) & I demanded they put her down. They kept trying to say other things they could try.
I said look at the dog - she is still fitting - that is not life. I demanded euthanasia.
I understand their thoughts about trying to save all lives. But they need to understand thatthat ccan't be done at any cost. Not to the animal. Not to the hip pocket. And not to the owners emotions.
You have a bit of thinking to do about what you want.
Do you want to put your pet to sleep?
Would you like them to find your pet another home - where someone else may be able to monitor it's health?
Or would you like to dry monitoring it yourself for a little while?
There is no right or wrong answers. No one will judge you - regardless of which decision you make. The choice is yours. And you shouldn't be pressured to do something that you don't think you can.
I am really sorry. It is such a hard thing to deal with. But please, do what is right for you.
Sending you a big hug. ♥♥♥

Re: Accepting help from extended family?

Much of this will be shock @Former-Member .... and compounded, both in terms of your pet, and in how harshly someone suggested BPD Introvertt to you ....

Sounds like you need more processing time to help you come to terms with it all, and before you will be able to make any firm decisions,

We will walk with you .....

Try to distract yourself with self-care activities and be gentle .... it is my experience that a lot of emotional processing bypasses the analytical brain .... but that my just be me and my particular make up .... dunno .....

More hugs ...... 💜🐠
